everyone's going to talk about dinklage's performance, and rightly so, but I gotta say sophie turner has been tremendous as sansa so far this season. you can feel all her characters emotions just by looking at her.
remember not to think too much and your trip will be numbingly pleasant

All the kids they casted are freaking amazing.
But yeah. Sophie Turner is especially good. For example when she looks embarrassed, I could swear she is blushing for real lol.

Most of the roles have been cast really good in the show, with a few exceptions. I still tdon't think Dillane is great for the role of Stannis, but thats more of a matter of taste. The actress playing Asha (Yara) on the other hand is all wrong for the role.

Asha is lean and long-legged, with short black hair and a sharp nose in a thin face.

She's supposed to be rather attractive as well as a fierce and agile fighter (as seen in ADwD during the deepwood motte battle). The actress they picked is mediocre looking at best, doesn't look very fit at all and can't seem to pull off the smugness of the role.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.

I must say that the more I see of the show, the more I like what the writers are doing. It's not just a recreation of the books, but a different perspective to tell the story from - highlighting things the books didn't thoroughly explain, shortening things TV as a medium won't be able to convey properly.

It's not perfect; some scenes like Theon's seawater baptism could have been done better (a proper drowning to emphasize "What is dead may never die"). But mostly they are doing a great job at explaining situations and characters, such as the Loras/Renly/Margaery triangle.

I was sad at the lack of drowning as well or at least going underwater....
Kept expecting them to cut to Daenarys but makes sense that they don't, draw out her time in the desert a bit, I hope they still end up stopping in the deserted city.

Not a huge fan of Arya getting the idea for her little prayer from Yoren, or did I just forget that part of the book.

Found these amusing a bit ago might as well post em.
I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for the other thread, but we have been introduced to the ironborn now.

Btw I am surprised that there is no outrage yet about the lack of the Reeds.
Some scenes where they were important in (Bran thinking about his wolf dreams, talking about magic with Luwin) were done without them. I think we can suspect that they wont appear this season.

Personally I dont care too much, as I believe reducing the number of characters makes sense with the TV format.

^^I'm more pissed about no Tullys.

Also, I know it's early on, but the way they are portraying Robb as someone sort of super amazing always-right guy is going to screw them over so bad when they have to kill him off.

Maybe they won't kill him off, wouldn't that be a twist.

Just kidding of course he's gonna bite it.

yup

since the war of the five kings is loosely based on the wars of the roses and house stark -> house of york and house lannister -> house of lancaster, ned would be the elder duke of york and robb the younger, that leaves who to be the edward IV? rickon? maybe that's where GRRM stops following the wars of the roses and there is no edward IV among the starks.

No Blackfish is a big disappointment. I have a feeling he will be important in the next two books GRRM writes.

Speaking of important characters not in the TV series, WHERE ARE THE REEDS?

what?? he's not gona be in the series? i think you're right, he's going to be important in the winds of winter at least. personally i think he's going to back to the vale and finally put an end to that snake littlefinger but who knows.

the reeds arent really necessary, there are other ways to develop bran's powers than introducing two new characters just for that purpose

Jojen gives Bran the motivation to go north to and beyond the Wall in search of the Children of the Forest. By not adding him that motivation has to come somewhere else. It would be weird to have Osha go with Rickon as that would cut out the whole Davos to Skagos storyline later. Having Maester Luwen go sort of goes against his character and wouldn't develop Bran's greenseer ability.

Either they add the Jojen's next season (somehow meet in a burned down Winterfell?) or Bran finds his motivation through the dreams and embarks with only Hodor and Summer. I don't think I would find Bran's quest very interesting if his character interactions are limited to only mainly Hodor.

I'm pretty sure that Osha will replace the Reeds. For one, she's a way, way, waaay too good actress to just send her off with Rickon. As much as I love the Reeds, I think Osha is a natural fit for Bran's journey. Bran needs to go north of the wall, and she's a wildling..

It was a small scene but I enjoyed Theon burning his letter to Robb. I think It honestly works better on TV just seeing that one scene then it does in the book even. You don't get any sense in the book that theon was really broken up or upset that his father was going to attack his surrogate family.

I'm excited. Most changes from the book make the series _more_ watchable for me. Cutting of the Reeds is one of these changes.

Wouldn't be too hard to just not kill off Maester Luwin and have him take Rickon.
