Seeing screenshots of him and Davos got me thinking. He was on his way south in the narrow sea after giving Davos the boot. What if he runs into some of the golden company that got scattered by the storm and end up joining with them. Then, assuming the Lannisters are out of the way, there is a climactic clash between young Griff and Stannis and Davos is forced to kill Sallador ala Jack Bauer vs Curtis in that episode of 24 :O

He was an old man and was brutally murdered at his post when he had no friends left. I also found it sad how he was never quite himself again after Tyrion cut his beard off.

Since aegon is the rightful king he's more likely to help him than fight him if aegon can get over what Robert and the lannisters did.

Assuming that Cat's father, and his death, are left out, which I can't see hurting anything. Both the Blackfish and Edmure don't really do anything important in the second book, other than offer Edmure's hand in marriage to one of Frey's daughters. And it's not like he needs to be on screen when that happens. As for the Boltons, once Arya makes it to Harrenhall, Bolton can show up to take it with the mercenaries that Arya helps out accidentally. Though to be honest he plays a relatively small part on screen, not counting him killing Robb, that leaving him out wouldn't hurt too much. Wait don't riverrun and at least edmure have to be in this season? If there not how will they do the 3rd season? Edmure stops Tywin from crossing the rivers and going west after Robbs knights and calvary. He the main reason Robbs plan to trap the Lannisters in the west fails, and kings landing is saved from Stannis.

They'll go from extinction to rising up and retaking the north. Looking forward to seeing how each of them come back into the picture though, Rickon might be the easiest to bring back, but Sansa/Bran/Arya are kind of out of the way for now. speaking of shifts in power/standings, my favorite is Tyrion's between aCoK and aSoS. Total powerhouse in aCoK into such a downfall right after the blackwater. Tyrion will rise again :D
