2.5/5 not bad. Only partial credit on Myrcella, as it doesn't look like Doran knew of the poisoning.

Excellent ep imo. That scene with Cersei was fantastic, felt like it was exactly how it needed to be as if it was ripped from the book.
I don't know how I feel about Stannis at all, I mainly have questions not so much criticism...it's about the same as the books where just don't even know what to expect with that story anymore. I do err on the positive side though, I find it much more interesting if Melisandre was playing him the entire time.

I'm pretty sure Littlefinger will be the most powerful man in Westeros by the time Daenerys arrives...
And lol, nobody here has posted any concern about Daenerys being surrounded by thousands of Dothraki.

Life isn't always interesting.
If they always chose to do the craziest and most convoluted thing that takes forever to wrap your head around, it'd be predictable. So there's nothing wrong with something like this happening. I mean Stannis had like a 0.1% chance to take Winterfell, so why are people surprised? Are you all religious fanatics that believe this fake god?
The Jaime and Myrcella scene was so sad but done so well, really crushed my heart... Man, all of it was good to me, except I guess Daenerys, which was silly.
Arya cool as fuck.

He said he was going to invade the north, he suspects the Boltons are weaker than they actually are. He would lose because the Boltons have the massive home and winter advantage.
And littlefinger takes too many risks to live much longer. For example lots of people have recognized sansa on the way to winterfell or in the vale. For example pod, briene, littlefingers entire guardforce and the lords of the vale who want littlefinger gone. His lie to cersei could easily be exposed and the lords of the vale risk little to do it. So littlefingers not going to live much longer unless he gets very lucky.

Stannis losing everything dear to him was well done. Everything except his life anyway.
The understanding between Jaime and Myrcella was a good set up to her succumbing to poison (if her happy betrothal wasn't already a sign of future misfortune).
...
What I found distasteful was the show's inclusion/portrayal of Ellaria and the Sand Snakes.
I don't know why season 5 needed Ellaria. To be honest, two of out three Sand Snakes would have sufficed for the revenge story (from threatening Doran to poisoning Myrcella).
I'm not a fan of unnecessary characters with dialogue. I'd rather see more of the core characters.

He doesn't need to come back on set, he's just going to provide his voice as an internal monologue for Ghost.
I want to see Ghost padding around while Kit blathers on in his monotone about how much he misses his smoulder.

Damn, this story is unfulfilling as fuck.

Hmph.
Well.
That was the most anti-climactic Battle for Winterfell and Stannis death ever.

nah stannis is dead. they killed eddard without showing it, and only showed his head an episode later.

nah stannis is dead. they killed eddard without showing it, and only showed his head an episode later. No they definitely showed his head being severed. Rewatch it. It only lasts a couple frames.

He isn't going to sell spoilers by saying he comes back. Don't forget he's signed for up to season 7.
Also the warg stuff living inside ghost could work in the book but on TV it would look stupid as fuck because of the impossibility on getting "inside" a character. However it's possible the warg part could be used as a temporary surviving mechanic.
The book has a few hints he may become Azor Ahai too. And melisandre hapens to conveniently be near him in both series and books. The series usually puts characters in very different places.

I rewatched it. That's very observant of you. But why would stannis live? There would have to be a 1/1000000 probability event that stops brienes sword going into him. I'm going with the odds here.

how can anyone think Stannis died there? They didn't show his corpse, and it looks so obvious that she hit the tree behind him (that scene was really bad btw, how did Brienne find Stannis in the middle of the battlefield? how come Ramsay doesn't even care if Stannis was captured or killed in the battle?) they also cut when Theon and Sansa jumped from the wall, do you think they are dead too?!

I know each season generally has a slow build up, but the pacing of season 5 ... + Show Spoiler +

Assuming that Jon Snow does get resurrected, how do you guys think the Jon Snow story line will play out? Obviously Jon Snow can't go back to Castle Black. So Melisandre revives him and they both flee from the place to the countryside? They join the Brotherhood and LSH?

nah, just broken both their legs maybe. Which is a worse fate than death because they would both be brought back and tortured a lot. But it also looks like they jumped into some powered snow in which case they might get away. And they seem to get away in the books as well, (if we transform fake arya into sansa).
I think stannis is dead because it showed him about to die. basic logic. Just like syrio forell

Did you see that look the Night's King gave him?
+ Show Spoiler +Burning shafts hissed upward, trailing tongues of fire. Scarecrow brothers tumbled down, black cloaks ablaze. "Snow," an eagle cried, as foemen scuttled up the ice like spiders. Jon was armored in black ice, but his blade burned red in his fist. As the dead men reached the top of the Wall he sent them down to die again. He slew a greybeard and a beardless boy, a giant, a gaunt man with filed teeth, a girl with thick red hair. Too late he recognized Ygritte. She was gone as quick as she’d appeared.
Jon will provide a PoV for a faction we have yet to really get behind.

since the show is up to the books in most aspects, do we still keep the two threads separated? hmm
