It's not only the action scene that was bad

True, but the action scenes were particularly awful.

Well this episode was awesome for all 60 minutes. The Arya scene was really enjoyable, good progress. Same with Cercei. The Tyrion / Dany scenes were really refreshing, they created some of the old Season 1 feeling, scheming and ruling. Everything this episode already felt much better than the last episodes somehow.

But then the big battle, holy shit. This was amazing. Everything about it was perfect. The feeling, the scenery, the CGI, the costumes. I loved the Wildling woman, she was perfectly casted, would have wanted to see her again because she fitted so well, too bad she died. The Giant was just a destroyer, he just shredded everything that came near him, holy shit. I expected him to die a predictable valiant death but fortunately they didn't kill him off.
And then seeing the White Walkers on their dead horses on the mountains, watching from a distance, gave me chills, that was perfectly executed. 10/10 episode.

I wish they would have done the Cersei stuff before all the epicness. Now I just want more time at the wall

The last two episodes will have to be very action-packed if they want to conclude all subplots of this season. It's going to be really hard to cover the Wall, Battle of Winterfell (or at least Sansa stuff), Cersei and the Faith (give slutwalk pls), Arya, Dorne and Meereen in 120 minutes.

Yeah, I expect so. However, I am not sure if we will get to see the battle of Winterfell this season (would be kind of disappointing, though), but at least the Ramsay/Sansa/Theon plot should sort of come to a conclusion. Also, I'm afraid that nothing meaningful might happen in Dorne.
But yeah, Cersei, Arya, Jon, Dany still provide a lot of exciting stuff for the last two episodes.

episode 9 gonna be the Wall, Dorne, Arya killing the thin man, Mace Tyrell arrives in Bravos, possibly Ramsay's skirmish, Stannis deciding wether to sacrifice his daughter, concluding with Danny's Arena

Episode 10 gonna have Cersei's walk of shame, Danny meeting the dothraki, Stannis marching on winterfell, and concluding with Jon getting stabbed

These are pretty much confirmed, the questions are:
a) will Arya kill Maryn Trennt this season, if so which episode, my guess would be yes and 10th
b) will this season feature a full scale battle between Stannis-Bolton and/or will there be a siege of winterfell. My guess is probably no, but i'd say it s close to 50-50
c) will Lady Stonehart-Uncat make an apperance? the jury is out on that one, it has been definetly teased but who knows. If yes, then definetly the last episode, titled Mother's Mercy

Considering that they have hyped up the battle at Hardhome even before he season began, I very much doubt that we will see another battle that they have kept completely quiet until now. Let's face it, there's not enough budget for two epic battles like that, and if there would have been, we would have known about it by now.

Ramsay will sneak into Stannis' army with his men and.. something will happen. Hell, maybe they'll even kill Stannis and Melisandre and the others will flee back to the wall. Wouldn't that be something?

The only way a cameraman could've made those fight scenes look good would be pointing the camera in the opposite direction lol

I think that one was a very good scene. We could finally see that Tyene is the daughter of Oberyn. Hyper-sexual, posioning, cocky, even the way she formed her sentences was similar how Oberyn did, the intonation, the word order, i actually liked it.

I agree that the show had many pointless graphic scenes, but just because one has boobs or blood in it, doesnt mean it's dumb or unnecessary. It was the first good scene with the Sandsnakes.

I guess we have different definitions of good. I thought that scene was pretty terrible.

About the rest: I don't think Ramsay would kill Stannis. I mean... MAYBE he could, but that would be horribly disappointing. I think Stannis will capture him.

Pretty much yea. It was posted here a while ago, short clips of some of the terrible choreography and acting in the fight scenes but they are buried and I'm too lazy to dig them up. Bottom line the best cameraman and director in the world could not have fixed that.

Er.. it's in the very definition of the director's job not to let scenes like that make it into the final product. They do X takes on action scenes like that, and 90% of them will look awkward and stupid. It's the director's/editor's job to pick the ones that look good, and/or cut them in a way that you won't notice how stupid they are.

Ever see a young person pick up a tennis racket for the first time? Watch them swing it 100 times and they'll look awful on every swing. That's what it reminded me of with the sand snakes and their moves. It's like they got zero training on how to swing a weapon convincingly. Then add in some god awful choreography and you get what you got.

You could certainly say that it is the director's fault for
1) not getting them that basic training
2) letting that choreography through
3) Not getting the proper camera angles to hide what was really going on.
4) Not editing like crazy to make people seem less hopeless.

So yeah, they probably should have gotten close ups to hide the action and done a whole lot of other things better. However, when you're working with terrible ingredients (the acting), even the best chefs struggle to make a palatable dish. Then add some terrible writing in plot and dialog and you've got an unfettered disaster. Dorne has been a disaster and part of episode 8's charm has been a lack of Dorne.

Hardholm was awesome. The fight choreography was respectable and the actors seemed to have some competence with the weapons... maybe it was just good editing. The whole thing felt chaotic and magical, yet somehow real. Yes, you can nitpick things, but I'm not here to do that. This last episode was good (action and plot progression) and I'm hoping 9 and 10 can also deliver.
Playing better than standard requires deviation. This divergence usually results in sub-standard play.

If I'm not mistaken they did actually have to train with some weapons (at least the actress who plays Tyene had to).

The biggest issue for the Dornish plot is they put the new guys on it; couple that with only getting a week at the Alcazar (and it raining most of the week), plus historical site considerations, and...yeah.

After realizing what line Sam just said about Jon to Olly, my head just exploded and then i waited for the super obvious wink in the direction of the camera...

I had a short moment of terror in Hardholm, entertaining the thought of the whitewalker taking Jon down right there to skip the mutiny all together. I'd say that is the only good thing of the writing of this season, that we really don't know anymore how far they are willing to deviate from the books.
