Actually the less content there is, the better the show is. The more they can stretch some of the best dialogues. Stuff doesn't need to be like a 4 years old on cocain!

Possibly the big fight in the north and Tyrion escaping Kings Landing. Not sure if they'll get to to the King's Moot, Blackfish, Arya to Braavos (they'll probably end it with her leaving westeros), Bran's happy tree friends, Lady Stoneheart... Many loose ends and by next season most of the show viewers wont be able to remember half the story lines. http://instagram.com/p/nEeNM0PA3L/# Seems like it will be this season. Unless the actors have read the books, I doubt they know stuff a season in advance.

I think a more crucial part was the bit about there being a language there that Tyrion just couldn't understand from where he was. There was an element of pre-explaining the upcoming death of yet another beloved character there. Oberyn's death is hugely important to the plot, and in fact was nearly his whole purpose. The show made him more substantial and liked than he had been in the books. In the books, regardless of how glorious, he was a pretty brief splash. It also served as exposition on both Tyrion and a certain view of the world itself that the story is more or less built on. So I think it was those four things: joke about GRRM, semi-fourth-wall-directed storytelling commentary, exposition on Tyrion, and exposition on GRRM/D&D's nihilistic-inclined basis for the asoiaf/got setting. Sthmath them!

The problem really is that a lot of the dialogue and worldbuilding that happens in the last two books isn't really anything you can put on TV for an hour. I don't actually think there's a lot of content in book four and five at all that would be exciting to watch. There's plenty of drama for sure especially with the Cersei arc. Not a lot of action, but they can easily add that in the way they have this season with the additional Night's Watch and Arya events. I'd imagine if they do focus at all on Tyrion in Essos they can make all kinds of action sequences up about their journey to Volantis.

Feast and Dance have plenty of drama to go around. They'll be introducing a new setting and I'm personally interested to see what they will do with the Greyjoys. The casting is generally excellent as well so you might have a character show up and grab a lot of attention in a way you didn't expect. I am expecting the Sand Snakes to be far more engaging in the show than they are in the books. Mostly because hot feisty women are a lot more interesting to watch than to read about.

Mostly because hot feisty women are a lot more interesting to watch than to read about. Lets get our terms straight before it begins. With Tyene re-worked into a seductress role in the show, and given the low probability that they'd cast Obara to book specs, I nominate "tits and dagger". If they keep to the Dorne=fine wines thing going, then they will basically be acolytes of the two best gods in the whole setting. Agree with the major point. Political and personal intrigue is where the show is strongest, and higher fantasy/action is where it more often fails. That is why KL is the hotspot for all the best things. Dorne is the one other place that significantly provides the same sort of content. I'm sure there will be more than enough bad changes to grumble about, but with the confirmed focus on Dorne and the reasonable writing they've managed to cling to I think they can hold it together for good book 4 content. It is the book 5 content that worries me. Among the major areas I expect KL/Dorne to be good, Wall and Meereen to be bad. The adventures of the Lannister brothers through book 4/5 content is the big question. Two of the shows best characters played by the strongest actors going off onto their own one man gigs for a bit could be dangerous or it could help spread out some good.

If you truly think Tyrion is going to survive it seems the most likely path doesn't it? The Jaime part a least, there is not much in the show that would tell Varys helping out. Jaime is convinced that Tyrion is innocent, and they have even discussed breaking Tyrion out before.

![]() I agree plot polls in the TV thread are a bad idea. I personally don't vote on them, but other book readers might.

On the wiki it says that GRRM has stated that 'he will appear eventually', but of course that doesn't mean he'll get a chapter.
