It was to show that he's huge, he's murderous, and people who go for trial by combat don't beat him (those were trial by combat prisoners). I'm... worried about the fight scene. Spears are a really easy weapon for 'hit the weapon and flail about' flynning that has plagued recent fight scenes more than it needs to.

Why would so many people choose trial by combat? Even if they didn't know it was going to be the Mountain they'd be facing. It's a silly scene.

I loved in the book how she didn't scream, it gave the moment that much more power. This was almost cartoonishly funny. No Marillion either?! The most badass way to end this would've been "This singer's killed my lady wife"...missed opportunity. Yeah they didn't have to have Marillion, since he died to Joffrey, but they could have introduced a different singer or some other fall guy for the same role. Of course much like Arya in Harrenhal, Sansa doesn't have it nearly as rough in the Eyrie as her book counter-part. She is a noble on the show, and only has to endure a show duration of 2 uncomfortable scenes with Lysa. Sansa is never threatend by Marillion, nor treated as poorly by people she interacts with due to being Littlefinger's bastard. It seems that another episode of Lysa might have been worth while to introduce Robin's seizures and play up Sansa's uncomfortable position, but so far the seizures appear to have been cut from the show. In fact I don't recall any comments about Robin having any health problems to this point. I get why the writers might have thought "Only Cat." would be confusing to the lowest denominator, but seriously he could have just referred to her as Cat when he was talking to Sansa, and Lysa could have referred to her as Cat when accusing Petyr of only loving her. It's more understandable why they might make the change, compared to some of their other changes though. On May 19 2014 13:19 FrostedMiniWheats wrote: Also, this is what seems like a pretty weak ass way for the Hound to go out. I figured he'd get into another scuffle. Seems a bit off that he'd be ambushed by two low-skilled bandits. One of which Arya even killed quite easily.. I wouldn't have minded as much if they were just two low-skilled bandits, but that was Rorge and Biter. In the books Rorge, Biter, and some of the remaining Brave Companions travel east to the town of Saltpans where Rorge finds and dons the Hound's helm once worn by Sandor Clegane. He wears the helm whilst brutally sacking Saltpans, which results in Clegane being blamed for the attack. At the Inn at the Crossroads, Rorge duels with and is slain by Brienne. Biter quickly overpowers Brienne and begins savagely biting her face. He is stopped by Gendry, who drives a spear through the back of his neck, killing him. Why even bother casting them if you are going to have Biter take one bite out of the Hound and promptly have his neck broken, and Rorge just stands there talking with his sword drawn, but lowered and let's Arya stab him uncontested... Might as well not even bring them back at all if that is the best you can come up with. The Tyrion scenes, were the highlight's of the episode, in large part because they did adapt from the books so well. I generally liked the Brienne/Pod and Hot Pie scenes too, though it was a bit of a role reversal from book Brienne who was incredibly paranoid (with good reason). The rest of the episode was ok. Dany and unconvincing Daario seduction. Dany mentions revenge killings, but hasn't really given them the weight and explanation they deserve for show watchers. Melisandre's bathtime and letting Selyse know that many of her "powers" are parlor tricks, as well as hinting at a need for Shireen. There were some really good scenes in the episode, but they still don't give me much faith in their writing when they try to make up completely original scenes.

It's like one of the few things the prequels truly did much better than the originals. I mean, maybe Obi-wan vs Anakin got a little ridiculous with swinging, mid-air lightsaber combat, but other than that... On May 20 2014 01:21 HyDrA_solic wrote: Revelation of Lady Stoneheart? Can't imagine anything other than that being the final scene of this season. There's simply no better timing to reveal her. Usually episode 9 is the one that feels more like a finale, but given that aSoS kinda breaks the pattern of the other books and continues with the excitement all the way to its final pages, I don't think that's the case this time.
