I really liked Jaime's scenes (again). And YAY, Qyburn! Also surprised they bothered with Shireen. Wasn't expecting her at all, being such a minor character in the books. Patchface's song was good too (and about a billion times better than the rock version of the Bear and the Maiden Fair).

Oh, and Selyse keeping her stillborn babies in jars of formaldehyde is pretty freaking creepy.

The whole point that is different is that it was okay for that wedding to sorta hang around in the background and never happen because Willas was in highgarden. Meanwhile Loras is in King's Landing and if Sansa-Tyrion is being rushed (just as it was in the book), then why not also rush Cersei-Loras (unless they change it a bit and have Loras lead the siege on Dragonstone from earlier on and the wedding is set to be when he comes back). Oh, and Selyse keeping her stillborn babies in jars of formaldehyde is pretty freaking creepy. The show might have cersei convince loras to join the kingsguard, which would get her out of marrying him (i believe he already joined the kingsguard by this point in the books).

Yeah, I sorta assumed that was off the table since they pretty much removed willas and garlan from the lore. If he's the heir he really shouldn't be joining the kingsguard.

Likewise, he's one of my favorite minor characters. Unfortunately he doesn't do enough to warrant being in the show at this point. Yea, I can't see how the Tyrell's would let that happen. Olenna is supposed to be smart, it would seem silly for her to let the only male heir (in the show) join the kingsgaurd, while the female next in line is betrothed to a lannister. I'm curious how the show is going to work it all out

No one sees it coming. Cersei convince the king to make add Loras to the king's guards. He would automatically accept. He is gay, so even if he knows about the marriage, he might prefer to dodge. Olenna, powerful as she is, can't out-power the king. If she doesn't strategically brief Loras, then he will accept, if she brief him, she needs to know about wedding plans. The wedding is Tywin's private knowledge. Cersei destroys Tywin's plan, the irony... "you are not as smart as you think you are"... But all these things doesn't matter, as the situation reset after Joffrey's wedding. As for the 3 fetus jar, it's obvious leaches are less likely to be burned than the fetuses. I think this is more awesome than just leaches from a bastard nephew (was the leach blood even from him?)... Anyway the whole point of the thing in the book, was to have this kind of feeling that Mellissandre is totally out of her mind... Human sacrifices, Davos to jail... Then she starts to free the guy, use leaches instead of a sacrifice and slowly starts to seem like a reasonable person that Stannis understand a bit wrong.

Never thought Patchface had any relevance in the books except for a bit of foreshadowing, and I thing Shireen may play some role at the wall in book 6, so it makes sense to introduce her and not him. In the show it's clear that she will be the one teaching Davos how to read, which is an ok change. Meh, I wanted Patchface in, just to see how creepy they'd make him :/ Also, I'd be somewhat disappointed if they just somewhat spoiler the non-importance of Patchface for the rest of the novels ![]()

Patchface being the actual embodiment of the great other is a silly idea. He might be his prophet/speaking pipe or w/e. But more likely just some prophetic songs Martin seen fit to give to a drowned half wit.

Anyone else think that instead of using leaches for melisandre's curse, they'll burn the fetuses and curse balon, Joffrey and Robb? Anyone else with me on this? I think you are spot on, I didn't think of that I think that would suprise many of us!
