I have a bad memory concerning the books. Has she done something relevant so far? Or do you guys think she will become important later on?

There is a theory that her fool (Patchface?) is actually the great other

More likely that Melisandre will want to use her blood for something.

Thanks! Now i wont be able to sleep.Cant get this out of my head. But now that u mention it that clown was always suspicious Damn i want book 6 now! Does any1 know when that bloody thing come out?

I don't think Patchface can be the Great Other if he isn't in the show.

It doesn't seem like the RW will be a big surprise to anyone. Everyone in the TV thread is already foreseeing Robb's demise.

Well atm it is looking like he is going down. Marrying the wrong girl, killing Karstarck (who took hostages with him), Cats support (geez that woman is the stark families worst enemy), Lannister + Tyrell alliance, letting the mountain escape, and Littlefinger is on the way to the vale to secure an alliance there. Oh and Stannis is practically no threat to the Lannisters and the Ironborn are still fucking up the North.
This looks kinda BAD for Robb. Seeing him come out on top of this is rather unlikely. But the up that is coming will possibly throw some for a loop.

No, if they do the RW right it will surprise them just because of how brutal it is. I certainly wasn't expecting that.

C'mon, isn't Patchface supposed to be some sort of evil and important character in the books? At least that was the feeling I got when I was reading... I sure hope the show isn't spoiling us all by letting know which characters are actually important and which are not.

But yeah, this season episodes are really extraordinary!

Showing Grey Wind's head on Robb's body is enough to make people go nuts. I'm hoping the show will go much farther than that.

That's because the internet is filled with these losers who read the books and pretend like they haven't. Not just in that thread but everywhere. Spoilers are 'predicted' or hinted at pretty much everywhere I go to read about game of thrones. I honestly feel bad for show watchers that want to discuss it on the internet or watch any youtube vid. On the other hand, my coworkers who only watch the show have no idea what's coming.

If it were up to me, I'd ban predictions or speculation of any kind in the other thread and disable youtube comments on all official HBO trailers. : /

It becomes increasingly obvious in the books too. I mean it's pretty clear he's walking into a trap as he approaches the twins, 3 very big hints are:

1) There's a chapter in which the final name Stannis dooms in Melisandre's curse is Robb.

2) Grey Wind is uncomfortable about going into the Twins prior to the wedding (peculiar animal behavior is always a cliche ominous sign)

3) Roose Bolton's alliance with the Lannisters

Somehow though the event is still shocking in it's brutality and the fact that Catelyn is slain on top of it. I really thought she'd just be taken captive at the least, given that Arya's so close to being reunited with her mother. You think, well it can't possibly be as bad as your expecting? Right? No, it's actually far worse. It's the extent to which Robb and Catelyn lose everything and the rapidly escalating rate at which it happens, that makes the scene surprising.

Yeah, I feel in the show he is in a much worse position than he actually was in the books at the same point in time, so that one easily can get the feeling it's going downhill for him.i.e.:

-in the show, everyone present is against his decision to take Karstark's life, so he seems like some mad man; in the book, the Greatjon and Blackfish are strongly supporting him on the matter, basically only Edmure is advocating to spare Karstark's life, he also formulates it so that it seems the only honorable thing to do, as otherwise he would have to lie publicly not having hostages killed
-the Karstark troop numbers are greatly exaggerated in the show (half his men!), so his military position seems way worse than in the books

This contributes to the feeling that he is somehow doomed. To get the same element of surprise back, the writes need to give viewers the feeling of an upswing back, like highlithing it very cleary that getting the Freys back on his side is a clear winning move or something, so that the RW then really comes as the big blow it is supposed to be.

But who's foreseeing Catelyn also meeting the same end ? Seeing her clawing her face bloody and screaming in a mix of agony and disbelief will hopefully shock anyone.

The identity of Lady Stoneheart will also be a WTF moment.

Yes the show does many things well but for "half his men" I wanted to slap someone. He should make up with the Freys because he basically slapped them in the face and broke his promise. It can not be THAT hard to convey this idea. You just open the negotiations with an open apology. Well sometimes the show struggles a little with the adaptation.

Pretty sure it's a bunch of people who read the books "predicting" rather accurately.

I just doubt people will expect exactly how thoroughly fucked it will turn out to be.

No, it's just really obvious that Robb's in a lot of trouble. People just have no idea HOW it's going to actually happen.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

I think people are overreacting on the amount of people that read the books making accurate predictions. Robb does look to be in a pretty bad position, and even reading the books you can kinda see it coming. Plus the series just move faster, people are getting used to major characters dieing all the time, like a couple every season, and the whole talk about no character ever being safe in GoT just adds to it. I think it's more surprising in the books when there's a lot more going on and a bigger amount of time where things don't look so grim.

The series is making a much bigger point to show Robb in a bad situation than the books. I think having Robb be a PoV is a large part of it.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.

The creepy song that was sung at the closing credits was Patchface's song and dance about birds living under the ocean and shadows coming out to dance. I wonder if we'll meet patchface in the show and I wonder how significant he is going to be down the line in the books.

I assumed, judging by the fact that Shireen was singing the songs, that patchface was cut.

Yeah, I read it like another nod to the book readers, like when Cersei said to Tyrion "I had heard half your nose was cut off!". Never thought Patchface had any relevance in the books except for a bit of foreshadowing, and I thing Shireen may play some role at the wall in book 6, so it makes sense to introduce her and not him. In the show it's clear that she will be the one teaching Davos how to read, which is an ok change.

Great episode today, was expecting a bit more from the Ygritte scene but oh well xD. Interesting to see how are they going to make Sandor end up with Arya since it looks like the BwB will be moving her to Riverrun rather than the Hound himself, plus her almost jumping on top of him to slice his throat will make things a bit more difficult.

I liked Jaime's background exposition in the tub with Brienne, but the way he told the story doesn't make much sense, with Tywin sacking the city before Aerys getting killed, and Ned finding him red handed when it doesn't make any sense for him to be with Tywin and the Lannister's army at all. I died a little since this negates the legendary scene of Jaime sitting at the throne when Ned finds him:

It is one of my favourite scenes to never actually happen in the book, along with the epic fight of 7 vs 3 in the Tower of Joy.
