Since the Brave Companions have been written out of the TV-series, i guess the only Option left is that Rob himself orders for his sword-hand to be cut off to send a message to the lannisters, and then when Robb leaves harrenhal Roose sets jamie free and sets up the scheming for the RW. i kinda like this change, it will give a lot more dramatic emphasis to the "Jamie Lannister sends his regards" line were they written out? That s now what i heard. We already met Quibrun, though, yeh, he s not with the Companion, or so it seems Vargo Hoat is not included in the TV-Series, afaik. And since Roose now holds harrenhall from the start, they dont really serve a purpose. Did anyone else get a slight vibe that Roose was refering to Ramsay when he said that he had sent his best "Hunter" out for Jamie? I heard Vargo was replaced by Loke or whoever, cuz british television laws dont allow to cast people with speaking disabilities or some random thing like that Well I seriously doubt that. I'm sure there's no law saying you can't have a character with a lisp (along with the fact that im not sure why British TV laws would have anything to do with an HBO show). I bet even if they kept Vargo they'd take out the lisp. It's aweosme in the books but it might seem too comical or whacky in the show. they shoot that part in Belfast, so i guess there s that... i ll try to dig up the article that s the best i could find, not the article i had in mid: We have revealed, based on reports from various sources, that Noah Taylor will be playing the Vargo Hoat character. Only the writers have reportedly decided to rename the character to ‘Locke’. Presumably, this means that this is an entirely new character with a different background (not from Qohor, no lisp, etc.), although he will apparently fulfill the same function within the story.http://winteriscoming.net/2012/10/unconfirmed-season-three-actors-who-are-they-playing/
So if this locke character fills the same function as hoat, that basicly means that Roose sends out his men to catch jamie, brings him to harrenhall and has jamies swordhand cut off. that makes zero sense if Roose wants to form an alliance with the Lannisters. its gotta be someone else who cuts off jaimes hand, maybe Karstark?
or maybe Tywin ordered Roose to have jamies hand removed so he could leave the kingsguard and become heir to Casterly Rock again :D he certainly seems concerned about that issue after the scene with him and tyrion.

Time to switch my brain off and enjoy this visual summary of a story i already know.
I hope the changes are not too bad, season 2 had some really dumb ones.

It was awesome, don't care none about changes between book/series, it was still awesome.
about that selmy change messing up with dany/jorah breakout, do remember in the series selmy did not sit in the small council, so likely he doesn't know that jorah was serving the spider.

Well for example, Season 1 Episode 5, Robert orders the council and Ned to kill Dany, there's Pycell, Renly, Littlefinger and Varys there with the king, and Ned. No sight of Selmy.
Also, S1E3, Ned arrives to KL, meets the small council, same setup, no Selmy.

Don't tell me there won't be no Belwas >< One of my fav characters, so much better than the rest around Dae.

dont like the new margarey actress.

-Not sure wich time you are refering to as Tyrion tends to get in trouble quite frequently -Varys (former master of whisper who is allied to the targaryen) killed pycelle and kevan lannister in the tower to remove the only two competent advisors on the kings council -thats about it. Aegon and his Golden Company is invading the stormlands, Stannis is marching against winterfell to reclaim it for the Starks, Littlefinger is scheming to gain control over the Vale and thus control two major regions of westeros and the Greyjoys are sailing to essos to abduct daenerys and her dragons.

Tywin is a master strategist and what have you in most areas, but he is blind where his children are concerned. Worse, he rejects the evidence when it is specifically brought to his attention as Tyrion attempted. Some people just need a sharp punch in the gut to quickly jolt their senses into a firmer grasp of the situation.
From the no spoilers thread. Troll or ? :D
Love having GoT back, even if they change some stuff its still awesome.

Question for everyone: in the second trailer for this season, we saw a man with a hood covering his head stuck in a tourture device. who could this be? i was thinking Theon Greyjoy but i would expect Ramsay to flay him rather than use -whatever method of tourture- that was.
Anyways i will be really pissed if they dont introduce Ramsay in the next episode. im expecting theon to wake up in some sort of prison cell with Ramsay standing there or something.

Wow, cool episode.
A lot of hater here, but most of the hater are really complaining about details and nuances that makes the book good. That is brainless, just watch the show from the perspective of someone who has not read the books.
All the changes are actually about removing confusion and extra characters that don't have a long term value for the story. You don't want to cast twice the amount of awesome actors just to have them in 3 scenes.
What they should have done is have 1 extra episode for each episode. No effects, no action, just the characters going through internal monologues and bring something deeper. Something viewer could skip if they only want the action... That would work beautifully with the material in the background.
My predictions: -Karstark cuts hand of Jamie, Rob put Karstack to death for that. -Talisa is the lannister spy and will be a turncloack on the RW -Theon will be done closer to the book than people expect. He will be reek. No reason not to do so. It will just be a good way to introduce Ramsay and viewers won't think twice about who is the prisoner
And finally, yeah, they butchered Littlefinger, but on the positive side, they can't go lower, maybe something will redeem that storyline. Make the intention of Littlefinger clear and open will just leave a good amount of suspicion for those who have not read the book.

The Selmy change won't affect the story at all since Dany forgives him in the end. Now Dany will probably just lash out at Jorah. In the books Selmy DOES know that Jorah was spying on Dany.

hey i'm just curious, do we know who is cast as ramsay bolton? or did they just write him off the show?

Rofl so the lannisters planned to send Talisa to seduce Robb, marry him making him break his pact with the Frey so they would agree to the Red Wedding.
That change would be so bad that it's hilarious.
