It's seemingly far more than just that though — she had some sort of twisted sense of reality which seems to indicate psychosis. As if those two weren't crazy enough, to top it all off she seemed to display some rather manic-depressive/bi-polar behavior — at least in this episode, but not really any other(?). Overall, I guess one can sum it up as one seriously messed up mind. It seems like quite an unlikely scenario, but it sure makes for good TV. I thought it was a pretty good episode; pretty good acting all-around, and it's nice to get a surprise— not expecting that "great" plot event. | ||

I was 2/3 in predicting what would happen mid-show. + Show Spoiler + I didn't see Lizzie killing the other girl coming, but saw Carol shooting Lizzie and Tyrese forgiving/not killing Carol. But yeah, awesome episode. Good change of pace from the overall dull half of this season. | ||

Lizzie murdered her sister and could very well have tried to kill others. Death penalty is a thing in many countries, and certainly under the extreme circumstances/martial law of a zombie apocalypse. Then again, Lizzie is just a child with mental problems that may have been treated. In a functional world, she would have been put into some sort of institution that is obviously not available now. So is it worth risking other people's lives for the vague chance of curing a murderer's mental illness and basically let her go unpunished? I say it's not. That leaves either killing Lizzie outright or leaving her behind to "play" with her zombie friends. | ||

Leaving her behind would have been a morally easier choice (something that Rick would do probably), but killing her was probably the better choice to stop her or anyone else's agony. If they leave her they don't directly have her blood on their hands but she will either get killed by zombies which is much more painful than a bullet to the head or she would run into some other group of people and possibly cause more deaths down the line (or die of hunger or something similar which is a terrible way to die). They could take her with her, but that would be too much of a risk in their situation. | ||

My jaw literally dropped and my mouth was agape for like 3min until they went to commercial. We all knew Lizzie was fucked up and she was slowly losing it more and more and I thought something might happen by the end of the episode. But wtf not randomly in the middle of the episode with over 20min left. I felt so bad that she slit the throat of the other kid  at least the baby was ok...As for people thinking she could've been saved. She literally showed every sign of being a serial killer. They all start with hurting small animals and moving on to bigger game and thinking their actions are justified. She wasn't going to be treatable, especially in the kind of world they are in now. If she was gonna live they'd have to keep her under lock and chain as if she was a Walker, never allow her any weapons ever and always have to keep watch on her. | ||

More comic spoilers from past events: + Show Spoiler + The two girls in the show and comic are quite different. Hershel has two little girls in the comics whom he finds beheaded in the prison. You find out that the murderer was one of the prison inmates from the cafeteria when they first entered the prison. The two girls in the show roughly followed the story of two boys from the comics that were the children of a to be deceased couple from way back at the first camp outside Atlanta. One of the boys kills his brother at about the same point that Lizzy kills her sister in the show. | ||

Crazy people do things that they think isn't crazy. Carol tried many times this season to explain to her that zombies are not people. I think the writers should have given a little more time on those conversations to make it more convincing for those viewers who don't buy it. I knew something bad was going to happen down the line because every scene Lizzie is in makes the viewer raise their eyebrow. I think it was the nail in the coffin when she said something along the lines of, "I know what I need to do" in this episode. I mean, her actions got worst in the second half of this season from cutting the rabbit into pieces on the log for no reason and almost suffocating Judith. She has shown more compassion for dead things than living things. She had no problem pulling the trigger on Tara's girlfriend and a man during the attack on the prison. She even thought Carol was mad at her when she pointed the gun at her. Instead she should have said is Carol mad at her for killing Mika, but she didn't. I wouldn't say I am happy that she died, but more relieved. It's no doubt a tragic event, but it had to be done. I don't think leaving her behind is a good idea either. She could have harm another group with her wild antics. She could have gotten bit, turn, and harm others too. Another idea, which is tying her up and dragging her along isn't ideal either because it requires more energy, attention, and faster depletion of resources on her. It is also treating her as an animal too. I think shooting her in the head was the best possible outcome without inflicting pain. | ||
