Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book.
I don't think some of you guys are comprehending the firing of the writers. If you think the episodes have been crap, it's because of Darabont himself since he is the one rewriting it. We can't really judge what these "writers" could have shown us because we have never really seen it entirely because Darabont has the last say of what is shown.
By firing the writers, if this is in fact true, we are only going to see more of the same. imo the series went to crap very quickly after such a solid first episode. Characters are lame; I don't feel a connection with them at all except the black father and son from the first ep. Main character's wife is such a bitch/hoe. Hick wifebeater/molester made me facepalm. Gangstas with a heart of gold was so damn ridiculous. Cringing scenes like the younger sister dying, and the older sister just mourning like a fool, getting 1 inch from a reanimated zombie. I yelled at the tv, because I wanted so badly for her face to be eaten.
This series could of been awesome, but it seems like they want to go down the "Lost" path. Sadly I will probably continue watching because the premise is classically good (cmon, zombie apocalypse!) and will HOPE it gets better.

Wow... I couldn't agree with this post anymore. I feel pretty much the exact same way - especially about that scene with the sister turning into a zombie...
I didn't know about the writers being fired so I guess it's all making sense now
Isn't the CDC supposed to last 2-3 years at least in an event like this? Or was it somewhere else. Made me cringe when I saw them wasting food and stuffs, but I guess that was why the scientist didn't care.
LOL when the black guy tried to break bulletproof glass with a chair. What was he thinking. And the grenade CGI was really bad.
How does the highest ranking researcher in the most bloody important building during the outbreak get bitten? It makes so little sense. That's the person you jump in front of to stop a bullet.
But it was a good start to the series. You can see there's quite a lot to build on. There were a lot of iffy moments and it was very predictable, but you can sort of see where all the themes from the comics come in.
I think the overall feel of this episode was on par with the first and second as far as intensity. I don't like how Rick's character has been going really. Something just a bit odd about it. The song at the end was a great touch as well. I can't wait to see how this show turns out as just about every episode has had a different feel to it.
If the wife is preggors the father could be Shane. I mean maybe they started banging just a week or so before Rick's return. Didn't know this was the finale....
Fairly good finale there. There have been some facepalm moments in the show like that whole little sister dying and her not killing her. I was too distracted by how stupid that action was to care about her loss. So there are a lot of ways they can fix this show the next season and I hope they follow through with it.
And the CDC couldn't even have a little solar polar panel or something somewhere for the most important stuff? Green would have saved the world! lol
The episode was okay with some lol moments here and there. I find it odd how horribly designed the CDC building was. Like some have mentioned, isn't it suppose to last for a good amount of years? I get that they want to move on with the story, but it would have been cool if they used it as a new base or something. The CGI explosion was bad, but it's understandable for a TV show. I wonder how the next season will pick up.
AMC announced today the renewal of The Walking Dead for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sun., Oct. 31, The Walking Dead has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18 to 49 than any other show in the history of cable television.

Like most of you I have had many problems with the writing of this first season as things seem to always be very predictable and in a word dull, but this still is a great show when compared to the other trash out there and I think it will get better, unless they turn it into what the writers of the poor films based off the Resident Evil game did and just incorporate stupid shit where it isn't needed anyways. I felt like this season was very dry as each episode was good length but almost nothing happend within them for that much time, I understand this to probably be more for dramatic purposes but it still seems like its a waste of time that could be filled. I'm interested to see if the main character and his wife finally acknowledge the fact that Shane tried very hard to protect the main guy in the hospital, I think them not conversing about it is very annoying since he hasn't really been given credit from the woman but only talked down to when she wont even hear the truth. Does anyone know what happens to Shane later on, do they get into some deadly fight when he finally snaps? Either way I wish they would just get back to all being cool again and for Shane to just let it go that he cant be with the main guys wife. (srry dont remember almost any of the names lol, oh and someone tell me what happend in the comic with Merl!?!)

Did you predict the gangsters were helping the elderly?
Seems like we're going to be waiting until October 2011 for S2. What the hell are they thinking? Almost an entire year? I won't even be excited for S2 then.
