I laughed a lot when I watched it. Yep, YPF is a really entertaining movie, I was really astonished when I watched it, cause it blew my expectations away hahaha . It's a good take on the sex thing .

And why can't a movie with famous actors or directors fit into this category? I know the records of a few of my favorite directors, but more than that there is defiantly room for me to be surprised or find some hidden gem from my perspective. I found Shawshank Redemption surprisingly good when I first saw it like 10 years ago after having bought it cheap on a sale without knowing anything about it. I'm not saying that movie really fits this thread today but I wish that you and the dozen of other people in this thread would stop deciding what other people should find surprisingly good or a hidden gem. Just take the advices or leave them.

I dont mean to bitch about it, just found it hard to believe Take Heat for example. Sort of a crime movie, with some personal life issues of the 2 main characters. Now these 2 are De Niro and Al Pacino, if you ever saw mafia movies you know these two, and you have there Natalie Portman (who already played in an awesome film by then, Leon). I cant imagine given the cathegory/topic and the actors somebody would be surprised it's good, neither can i imagine this is someone's first movie with these actors in it. It would be amazingly surprising if it wasnt good but i dont mean to off here, gonna add some titles myself a bit later, Day9 time now

Dagon + Show Spoiler + http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264508/ My favorite Lovecraft movie (based on "shadow over innsmouth" rather then the short story "Dagon") And In the Mouth of Madness + Show Spoiler + http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113409/ And... Ravenous + Show Spoiler + http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129332/ Trailer is bad though :C , just go and watch it.

For example Cube is a very popular sort of cult/underground film. If you're into movies, then you would of almost certainly heard about it. But for you average movie watcher who watchs say 15 a year, you wouldn't of seen this. So to some it's super hidden and to others it's right in the open. For a lot of people Shawshank is hidden. Most people don't watch many films a year, and they only follow whats on at the cinema.

the big lebowski, ravenous, office space and willow are really great movies which have already been mentioned (also the foreign ones el orphanto, let the right one in, devil's backbone and pan's labyrinth). tried to choose some which weren't mentioned already: CLERKS 2 (2006) tommy boy (1995) the frighteners (1996) intruder (1989) army of darkness (1993)
