Very good German Drama / Romance. The story is about a Turkish girl who lives under the oppression of her parents and marries an older guy (of Turkish descent) so she may escape her family. As he's drug addict, alcoholic and suicidal their relationship is more than destructive... but see for yourself what comes out of it.
A teacher leaves after 10 years on his position and his coworkers go to his house to say good bye. He refuses to say why he is leaving but suddenly he replies: "I try to move after 10 years before people realizes I'm not aging". Astonished, the other teachers listen to his story, which begins 14.000 years ago.
An independent movie, with short budget and 8 actors on a single location. A flawless script that produces a masterpiece sci-fi movie without X-effects. It gives you back faith on cinema.

I fell asleep when watching that movie. Although in my defense it was pretty late. I'll give it another chance on day since so many people recommend it.

What just happened:

BOOM.
First thing I think is "apply directly to the forehead".
For the Chinese viewers out there, this is a good one
The title 爱有来生,literally translate to "Love has future life" (in Chinese mythology, future life means after one dies, their soul will go to the underworld and cycled back to the living world again). Ironically the movie goes through a painful process of telling you not to rely on your future life.
None of these are really hidden but given the young age of many starcraft players they might not have heard of them...
Blazing Saddles Airplane Das Experiment Cool Runnings Dr Strangelove (and all the rest of Stanley Kubrick movies, clockwork orange etc etc) Man of la Mancha (more a musical but given i normally hate musicals this one has to be good).
if i wasn't trying to hold back my tears, this movie would've made me cry... 3 times. like titanic, this movie is about a disaster (earthquake that happened in china some 30 years ago). But unlike titanic, the story fully, and beautifully depicts how the earthquake has affected the lives of the victims, hence: aftershocks.
I was a skeptic before I watched it, but after the recommendation (and kind of forced to watch by my dad), this movie has become one of my favorites. I say, must watch.

oh and for anyone who is interested: the female protagonist (Sibel Kekilli) will play the part of "Shae" - the playmate of the dwarf - in the upcoming HBO series A Game of Thrones. (George Martin was very impressed with her sexy audition -- i later found out she made porn in her younger years so the sexiness comes natural to her, i guess :D)
Glad I randomly decided to check out this thread after awhile, definitely going to see Art of the Steal(being an art history student) and Aftershock (being a sad story lover). I don't really watch movies much, so I can't add anything to the thread >.>
