An absolutely incredible movie about the value of life. Do yourself a favor and watch this, I can not recommend it enough. I've shown this to a lot of people and not one of them has ever watched it without crying hysterically at some point.

But 12 Monkeys is a really special piece of film. One of Terry Gilliam's best, I think. I think it made something like $500,000 dollars at the box office. I remember seeing it in theaters and being blown away. Even at 13. It's been accepted into my movie hall of fame since. An amazing mood piece that thinking people can get a lot out of. Especially people with movement on the brain. I remember seeing the trailer for Fight Club when I was 8 or 9. It didn't red flag any of its social commentary. It was just Brad Pitt acting silly and a lot of dark sets. I didn't end up seeing it until middle school. Definitely in my top 5 of all time. This is actually one I expected to be good. But it's one of those gems people tend to lump into the "quirky comedy" category. It's actually a lot more than that. In its colorful comedy fluff there exists a great deal of serious existential philosophy. A truly rare find. Great writing and performances on top of it. I didn't expect this to be as good as 21 Grams (a more Hollywoody film by the same writer/director), but it far-surpassed it. I watched it while sober one night in high school and couldn't get it out of my head. The most emotionally packed film I've seen. And my favorite movie to boot. A lot of others, I'll add as I think of them! Watched I <3 Huckabees, terrible movie. Any person who has any idea on existential philosophy would laugh at the terrible bullshit technical language used.

I agree with this, Equilibrium was one of the shittiest movies ever made. It was just trying to cash in on the matrix hype while we waited for Matrix 2. Mainstream: Braveheart -ofc Gladiator -ofc The Patriot -meh I really liked this Fight Club -ofc Sin City -ofc American Beauty -meh Requiem for a Dream -terrible this movie was amazing V for Vendetta -terrible this movie was insanely good Mulholland Dr. -terrible x2 The Boat That Rocked (Pirate Radio) The Departed -ofc Gattaca -ok The Hurt Locker -terrible The Prestige -ok, but very predictable The Illusionist The Lookout Up in the Air Unknown/Overlooked/Indie: The Wackness -bad Cashback -terrible I also enjoyed this Wristcutters: A Love Story -not that bad of a chick flick but still I enjoyed this Stardust -terrible All the Real Girls George Washington Undertow Snow Angels Brick Brothers Bloom In Bruges Die Welle (The Wave) Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters) Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)

That movie was realllly bad. I don't recommend it. Keanu Reeve is not Hellblazer, wtf. The entire plot was pretty bad too. I really enjoyed the first 20ish minutes of that and it just goes downhill from there.

Might also be difficult if you don't speak _EVERY LANGUAGE IN THE WORLD_ People are just posting images of crazy japanese, swedish, chinese, korean, french, italian, spanish, and like every other possible language that a movie has been made in, but not bothering to write the titles or tell anyone anything about it. Although, with most of the thread being movies that every human on the planet has seen 73 and a half times (braveheart, fight club, children of men, etc.etc.etc.) Maybe it's best that they appear as a bunch of broken links.

Great 80's sci-fi/thriller. If you've never watched this film before, PLEASE GO WATCH IT. One of the best movies I've seen. Great film with great acting, a film by the great German director Werner Herzog. A crew goes looking for gold on the Amazonian Forest and slowly goes mad because of the unrelenting natural elements. Based on a true story. Good movie about transcending your mind via drugs and sensory deprivation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjoe_Gortner I've got more, will post later.

A man shuffles through a dream meeting various people and discussing the meanings and purposes of the universe. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243017/ great film especially if you're into spirituality and/or lucid dreaming. Hell i love all Richard Linklater's films. Check out ---> http://www.indiemoviesonline.com/ if you like indie movies they have loads of them available for free streaming online. "Smiley Face" was a good one I saw one there....so long as you have buds to smoke during the movie OH and how could I forget the awesome "Boy's and Girl's Guide to Getting Down". Hilarious comedy on parties. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464907/ available on indiemoviesonline.com for free!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073486/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094737/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086879/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120669/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342636/ (review from imdb about this movie) I didn't know what to expect from this hugely popular (and hilarious) Swedish comedy & satire team, as they released their first feature film. More broad satire? Well, we do get four contemporary, exceptionally memorable tales of family pains, generation gaps and fatherhood, in particular. But it's drama, thankfully, and what drama! Epic in its scope, as each episode is from carefully picked, geographically different parts of Sweden. But each story could seriously carry a whole movie, if expanded separately. It's dark, twisted, harrowing, yet massively entertaining and breathtakingly executed. Script, acting and cinematography are absolute world class, as three hours seem to get by in a blink! It's four shades of mastery, and easily one of the best films in the nations' cinema history. It's Sweden's answer to "Short cuts" or "Magnolia", if you like, and instantly on par with those! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0355702/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081633/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094291/

That description was for Eyes without a Face. But yeah, Herzog is king. IIRC Ian Curtis killed himself after watching stroszek.
