Almost went to see tchami on thursday but I only like a few of his songs and the rest is a bit dubby for my taste, then I found out knife party was doing a surprise set in the back room of the club FML. Oh well, 3 weeks till A&B!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duke, I hope you caught arnej this weekend (you're in dallas, right?). Extended set + he was planning on busting out the classics. Dust in the wind, strangers we've become, they need us, we need them....so amazing.
Nah, I live in Austin now but thought about going to Arenj after I missed BT & Tydi on Friday. Saw that his set was going to be extended plus Arenj almost always a must see. Just didn't feel like making the 3+ hour drive, getting a hotel then driving back today. Also didn't feel like seeing Fehrplay last night as but I wasn't impressed with him at all when I saw him in Seattle in 2013. As much as I'm up for traveling for shows, just didn't feel it this weekend plus there are a ton of shows coming to Austin in Q1 and April. Something like 7-9 shows that I at least want to attend just in February, and another like 3-4 I have no interest in.
Almost wish the promoter here would bring in more legit acts, not the EDM and, for lack of a better thought, shitty DJs. Don't get me wrong, I've spent $150+ on tickets the last couple of weeks, so there is no shortage of shows to attend, just there are 9+ shows that I cannot fathom going to due to the crappy music going to be played.
I say almost, as I am glad there are shows in there I do not want to attend as financially I'd be broke if not, and I'd be extremely worn out between my 60+ hours at work and going out.
Oh, just noticed BT & Tydi will be in Dallas on 2/21. Might do a make up show and drive up there.

Good, but I can't stand the nonstop "Hi I'm Mr.Spaz and song XYZ is really important to me" that are throughout the whole ep.

Yeah it's annoying, but it was an episode for the fans. I'd be ecstatic if I got to hear myself on asot 700

So rediscovered anphonic by above and beyond/ kyau and Albert. Can anyone point me in the direction of other songs like it?
|
Pretty much all of the anjunabeats compilations is a good start (anphonic is on volume 8).
Speaking of A&B, ONLY FIVE DAYS TIL I SEE THEM AHHHHH
|
Yeah, I'll do the anjunabeats again
Nice, I'm seeing them March 1st. Got my ticket for 28 on pet sale, sold out now with resale 100+. Absolutely insane.
|
Haha yeah it's crazy. Got mine for 50 and they're going for 150-200 on resale now. It's at the navy pier grand ballroom, can't wait to see what they do with the venue

Your venue looks nicer than where I'm seeing them in Atlanta.

How was A&B Decaf?
I can't wait to see them tonight :D:D They're playing at one of our convention Centers for some reason:

So jealous, you get lane 8 + mat zo + 2.5 hours set in toronto!
I had an fucking amazing time at Above and Beyond! The venue was seriously perfect, just a wide open dance floor with bars all around the outside and tons of room. Even if you were all the way in the back you had a perfect view, and we moved up to ~20 feet away from the stage pretty easily. Vibes in place were amazing, nothing but anjuna and trance fans everywhere! Saw every club and festival regular I know there and everyone was super friendly. Lane 8 was a really good opener, started off real slow and built up well which fit the environment perfectly. Cubicolor - Got this feeling was awesome! A&B came on half an earlier than they said they would so I got caught in the line at the bar when they came on! Kicked off with We are all we need and the graphic of the hand being filled with fans' names, I saw at least a couple of my friends up there which was pretty cool. Got deep real quick with some andrew bayer track and another one I didn't even know. Played Kuaga, some jason ross, and other anjuna tracks mixed in with group therapy and we are all we need tracks. Couple classics of course, acoustic of On Good Day gets me every time. Pretty much exactly what I expected/wanted and was another great group therapy session with some close friends.

Thats awesome to hear! Ours was also great, though I'd say there were some more not so great audience members at ours (which is something I've noticed is happening here a lot more lately), in the sense that they don't give off great vibes and are just there to get high/ pickup girls and nothing else. Also coat check was ridiculous. It took my friend and I over an hour to get our stuff checked in so we missed Lane 8 (though we heard him) and some of Mat Zo... Besides that though, they did a killer show :3 My favs to hear live are probably Satellite and On a Good Day as well, can never go wrong with Ocean Lab! <3 (Though neither were the acoustic ones for us)
Chances are for the track you aren't sure of, its one of these: (Someone recorded the tracks they played at our show, and I'd be surprised if it was super different) 1. Above & Beyond - Quieter is Louder 2. Above & Beyond - We're All We Need 3. Above & Beyond - Sticky Fingers 4. Royksopp - Sordid Affair (Fehrplay Remix) 5. Sunny Lax - Daenerys (Max Freegrant Remix) 6 Andrew Bayer - England vs. Andrew Bayer Paper Cranes 7. Faithless - Salva Mea (Above & Beyond Remix) 8. Andrew Bayer & Asbjørn - Superhuman 9. Pierce Fulton - Kuaga 10. Axwell/ Ingrosso - We Come We Rave We Love vs. Above & Beyond - Alchemy 11. Ilan Bluestone - Tesseract 12. Above & Beyond - Out Of Time (Andrew Bayer Remix) 13. Above & Beyond feat. Zoe Johnston - Peace of Mind 14. London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (Maor Levi & Kevin Wild Remix) 15. New Order - Blue Monday (Above & Beyond Remix) 16. Above & Beyond - Black Room Boy (Club Mix) vs. Ilan Bluestone - Big Ben 17. Ilan Bluestone - Lighthouse 18. Andrew Bayer - Once Lydian vs. Above & Beyond - Sun & Moon 19. Jason Ross - Elements 20. Above & Beyond - All Over The World 21. Super 8 & Tab, 7 Skies - Rubicon 22. Above & Beyond vs. Arty - You Got To Believe 23. Above & Beyond - Blue Sky Action (Club Mix) 24. Jason Ross - Atlas 25. Above & Beyond - Mariana Trench vs On My Way To Heaven 26. Cosmic Gate - Yai vs. Signalrunners feat. Julie Thompson - These Shoulders 27. Above & Beyond - Air For Life (ID remix) 28. Oceanlab - Satellite (Ilan Bluestone Remix) 29. Above & Beyond - Hello 30. Above & Beyond & Gareth Emery Presents OceanLab - On A Good Day (Metropolis) 31. Above & Beyond - A Thing Called Love (Club Mix) 32. Above & Beyond - Treasure
Edit: Thanks for mentioning Kuaga, I was trying to figure out that song name ahaha. I'm pretty sure parts of it were in their 2011 Essential Mix, and when they played it last night I got super excited cause I hadn't heard that in ages aha.
