Oh and... thought I'd bring some attention to a new metal band much in the vein of old Black Sabbath, although they still manage to sound fresh and interesting, and dare I say it the vocalist is better than Ozzy. (come at me haters)
All of that is really good shit. I love Ulcerate and Cynic. Orchid is alright as well.
Speaking of Cynic and Ulcerate, they're both due for some new material. Cynic is apparently working on a new album but Ulcerate hasn't announced anything official unfortunately.
i will be seeing bolt thrower, autopsy and benediction on may 25. jesus fuck. this is going to be epic beyond all words. i've seen autopsy once at maryland death fest, but this will be my first time seeing bolt thrower! so excited. also, to those who like drudkh, perhaps check out blood of kingu. same main guy behind both bands i believe. De Occulta Philosophia is an incredible album with a very unique atmosphere i feel
Right now, I cannot stop listening to Fables of the Sleepless Empire by UneXpect, this album is just pure genius. "Crazy batshit insane highly technical yet super catchy and melodic" metal is probably what would fit them the most.
This is sooooooo good!!! (buy this shit if you like)
I've been looking into Luca Turilli's solo work, and as far as power metal goes, this stuff is legendary. Except Luca Turilli can't write slow songs for his mother's life, but his fast stuff is still mostly full ofmasterpieces.

It's like someone took the wheel and made a new one that worked the same, except the outer edge was not a circle, but a tesseract. This feels like a lot of melodic metal songs I listen to, but they go about creating what is functionally the same thing in a completely different, mind-bending way.
Awsome, glad im not the only one listening to this EP.
And to throw my two cents out there, I dont see why NSBM shouldnt be allowed here. I could post "entrails ripped from a virgins cunt" by Cannibal Corpse and no one would say a word. I just looked at pages and pages of songs about rape and torture. To say its about basic moral decency its pretty hypocritcal. A woman who was a rape victim would be way more offended by a Devourment album than a Jew listening to a NSBM album. To start censoring metal would be the end of it. I hate Nazism too just like 99% of people, but alot of NSBM kicks ass. Its brutal, raw, intense, and really encapsulates what black metal should sound like to me. If the lyrical content espoused a diameticaly opposite ideology I would like it all the same.

Well said. Very much agreed! \m/
Anyone who hasn't heard this prog/melodeath epic should, btw:
@Master of Puppets Fucking Crimson haunts most days for me. Good pick! Only NWoSDM album I will listen to. Jester Race is weak to my ears. Just couldn't get into it.. but Crimson, fuck ya. When all the random riffs come together at the end is so fulfilling.
Here is something a lot less intense, but in my top 5 favorite metal albums:
Not quite the impact as on the October Rust cd, but awesome record.
Last of the real goths. I don't care if My Dying Bride just released an album.
Haha I have to disagree! The Jester Race is one of the best albums I've ever heard; everything in it is amazing, the folkish melodies, the riffage, the vocals (oh man the vocals :x) the usage of acoustic guitar...
On a completely different note, I've been enjoying this a lot:
