Since we're on the topic of Black Metal, I've also found, just as randomly as the previous one, some really powerful yet somehow very catchy and captivating material by a band called Occult Crypt. Fair warning, this is NSBM. I do not condone or subscribe to their ideals or concepts, but from a strictly-musical point of view this kicks so much ass, from the riffs to the leads and solos to the pounding drums and cruel fucking vocals.

You are right about my opinion not being relevant for anyone else but me. Refusing to condone National Socialist Black Metal is not about opinion, however, but about basic moral standards. This isn't open for discussion either, I had this argument a number of times on different forums. I can't speak for everyone here but I would rather have us agree on not posting NSBM crap (even if the riffs are amazing) and just be done with it.
Yeah man. That album is so amazing. The chorus riffs of this one are so fun; I can remember the first time listening to it and my jaw dropped to the floor haha!

Well sorry that some people are not narrow minded to disregard music just because of one single aspect. It's music, not politics. By your logic nobody should listen to death metal unless they condone brutally killing and/or raping people. Hell by your logic anyone who listens to Burzum or Mayhem is a hate-filled, psychotic arsonist. Lighten up for fuck's sake, it's a music thread where we're supposed to share our common passion.

The thing is, I have no problem with people listenting to that stuff. This just changes as soon as people actualy buy that music. Hell, most NSBM bands are awful anyways. I can only bear Ad Hominem and Satanic Warmaster. But I would never buy their music and support the artists. Not even upload their stuff in the internet.

The vast majority of death metal lyrics have nothing to do with "brutally killing or raping people" but whatever. I do understand where you're coming from though, good music is good music and the band's beliefs or politics shouldn't have any effect on your enjoyment of it. NSBM is a very special case though, luckily the vast majority of the music that comes from that idiotic corner of metal is complete shit. There are some rare exceptions of course, but they really don't deserve any exposure.
Most NSBM is just garbage, like christian 'white metal' or 'godcore', where the message means more than the music. The spoken sample in that one track almost seems like black metal or pagan ideals, but, just, no. Might be a guilty pleasure for some, but they aren't getting my money. This isn't the place to discuss extreme politics, either.

also, that nsbm posted sounds like a wannabe Sigrblot, who are a good band and are not quite so in-your-face with their politics. i'd also agree that most nsbm is awful, but hey, most black metal in general is awful, and this is coming from a huge black metal fan

Oh and... thought I'd bring some attention to a new metal band much in the vein of old Black Sabbath, although they still manage to sound fresh and interesting, and dare I say it the vocalist is better than Ozzy. (come at me haters)
Very much agreed. It's no Effigy or Pierced but it's excellent modern death metal. Between this and the upcoming Sodom, Gorguts and Amon Amarth releases, 2013 should be a beastly year. \m/
By the way, has anyone heard the new Voivod? I only heard a couple of songs off it and neither was particularly impressive or memorable, although it was solid modern thrash with glimpses of their past brilliance. Is it worth checking out or is it just another boring modern thrash record?
