I just got the new Lamb of God of album and so far this is my favorite.
Seems really Pantera inspired and just a sweet riff. I am glad that Lamb of God has been putting out consistently good albums unlike some metal bands that tend to lose the edge. Even though Randall(singer) has been losing some of his range, he still sings better than most metal singers out there. Overall i find this album up there with wrath but i doubt they will ever top Ashes of the Wake, no matter how much i hope.
I just rediscovered one my favorite bands, Evile. Their first album was good, their second not so much. And I wasn't hoping much from the third, Five Serpent's Teeth, even though some studio sneakpeeks sounded like good old 80s Thrash.
And I forgot to buy this album until last week or so... My god, it's so good. Probably one of the best metal albums of 2011. They feel like I'm listening to classic Slayer. Posting my two favorites from the album:
I just bought Blackwater Park Legacy Edition from Opeth, which also includes a 5.1 mix of the album. It is absolutely breathtaking, the songs feel so much better and have subtleties that blow your mind. BWP was my fav album but this made it like x10000 that.
Sadly that band died four days ago, but I'm really digging this song from a pretty obscure band, sounding quite a lot like Tool. I'd advise you to listen, especially the last part, that guy knows how to use his voice. It's crisp.

Was wondering if anyone knew some good instrumental metal.
Here you go:
Amazingly proficient prog metal instrumentalists.
Before clicking this next one, adjust your face as it is about to be thoroughly blown the fuck off:
Guy plays an eight-string guitar. He plays it fast.
Also, while not technically an instrumental band, Deafheaven are incredibly technical, especially their drumming, and their vocals are set far enough back into the mix that the whole song becomes much more a continuous wall of sound instead of a song with distinct vocals.
Try to keep your brains from exploding out of your eyeballs when you hear the drum solo.

Thanks for sharing this, I really like it! It's too bad they just broke up, I could've definitely seen myself going to see a concert of theirs in the future.

Yeah I was disappointed to find they split, I first started listening to them around 6 months or so ago. On another note, really looking forward to the new Meshuggah album next month.
I'm more of a Rock and Roll guy in general but I can totally get down with the metalheads especially at live shows.
So far I've had the pleasure of being able to see, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil, Dethklok (they are suprisingly good live), Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio (RIP), Motorhead and Judas Priest.
It always bugs me though how quick metalheads are to bash each other within their own genre. That I don't get, when there's so many other terrible genres of music out there worth bashing metalheads argue with each other the fiercest.
I feel if we could somehow end our little feuds and rise together we'd be the biggest loudest and most badass music fan group ever.
There's my hippy philosophy in a metal thread. Enjoy \m/
