If your going to hold Limp Bizkit up next to Cannibal Corpse and say "meh, its all metal", then the word metal has no fucking meaning at all. If you are into rapping, turntables, or even clear vocals that is fine, everyone likes what they like. But it is NOT the same genre as music with pure gutterals and blast beats. Im not going to throw out a perfectly objective and logical system of classification just to give some people a sense of belonging. Metal is and always has been that which is on the brutal and extreme end of the spectrum. The spectrum has shifted. Get used to it. The music you listen to is hard rock, not metal. People who advocate throwing genres out the window only do so because they know deep down that their music (short hair and clean vocals etc) is NOT metal. Its like the weak skinny kid on the school yard who always wants to make nice, just because hes a pussy and cant fight. I hate to be a dick but not everything is a matter of opinion. We have genres for a reason. I believe in non violence (except for self defense). It was simply a metaphor. Perhaps I went a bit far because everyone is an individual and I cant ever know everyones inner reasons for saying what they say. This, I think it's funny when people who listen to death metal think that that's true metal. It isn't, bands like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest invented and defined metal. Violent people making animal noises into a microphone did not. Besides I see metal as a genre that isn't superficial but actually has some meaning behind the songs unlike most pop/rap.
