In many cases, the country they're from have an impact on the band's music that makes it interesting. In addition, personally I think it's interesting when a band write lyrics in a language different from English. It doesn't matter a whole lot, but still...it's like a novelty I guess?

Metalcore is NOT the same as metal. Bands that used to play hardcore/emo and suddenly start to incorporate more and more metal into their music makes me suspicious. Fine if it was just a couple of bands but my god, there's like a fucking million metalcore bands out there nowadays. Metalcore has to be the biggest sellout genre ever, compromising 90% of earlier Hardcore bands. That being said I don't dislike all metalcore but alot of that stuff sucks ass.

Metalcore is a fusion genre incorporating elements of hardcore punk and extreme metal. The name is a portmanteau of heavy metal and hardcore punk. The term took on its current meaning in the mid-1990s, describing bands like Earth Crisis, Merauder, Deadguy and Integrity.[3] The earliest of these groups, Integrity, began performing in 1989.[4] Metalcore is distinguished from other punk metal fusions by its emphasis on breakdowns:[5] slower, intense passages conducive to moshing.[6]" Melodic metalcore (1997–present) In the late 1990s, a third wave of metalcore groups appeared, who placed significantly greater emphasis on melody. Such bands as Unearth, Bullet for My Valentine, As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada, Sonic Syndicate and Atreyu[33] [34] are the most commercially successful practitioners of metalcore. Other notable metalcore bands include The Autumn Offering, The Sorrow, Haste the Day, Darkest Hour, Caliban, Parkway Drive, In This Moment, and Diecast[35]. These groups took major influence, cues, and writing styles from melodic death metal bands, particularly In Flames and At the Gates.[35][33] Melodic metalcore frequently makes use of clean vocals,[36][37][38] and is significantly less dissonant than other metalcore. Some of these groups, such as Shadows Fall, have voiced an affection for '80s glam metal.[39] Melodic metalcore groups have been described as "embrac[ing] '80s metal clichés", such as "inordinate amounts of smoke machines, rippin' solos, [and] three bass drums".[34] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalcore

There is good metalcore and bad metalcore There is good <insert other metal genre> and bad <same metal genre as mentioned before>. It will always be this way. Sure, most metalcore sucks because it's basically just churned out for the sake of scary looking T-Shirts but in the end who really gives a shit? edit: If you ask me, before anybody posts a band in this thread they should check metal archives to see if the band is there. If it's not- it's not metal.

It was before I got into it, it is right now, and it probably will continue to be in the future. Hell, if you listen to metal you probably have a bit of it in you. With that in mind, a clannish group will inevitably have a mentality of what does or does not belong. The people who decide what does or does not belong are often those who established precedent, are veterans and founders of the community, etc. Sounds a lot like TL doesn't it? Is it true non-metal music has integrated into metal and is accepted? Yes. (see folk metal, prog-metal, etc.) Is it true that non-metal music has tried integrating with metal and is rejected? Yes. See nu-metal, metalcore, etc. Yes, it is kind of unfair, but that's just the way things roll. But think of this: Cynic wasn't accepted by the entire death metal community when they released Focus in 1993, but these days, they're heralded as one of the greatest bands metal has to offer. Perhaps in time metalcore may be accepted, but as of now, expect resistance.
