I can't listen to anything for now (ear problems), but I doubt it's any good. Btw - Slayer was announced as the headliner for Brutal Assault. Daaaaamn! That means I will see them twice this year :D | ||

Eh, I've tried listening to Lords of Summer a few times, but it just sucks. I think that the problem with the song is that Metallica is trying too hard to be a thrash-metal band and compete with a lot of the contemporary thrash-metal bands. They're incorporating all of the dissonant metal bullshit that those contemporaries play. What made Metallica's initial thrash metal albums so damned good was that the songs actually were coherent pieces with compelling melodies over the badass riffs. | ||

But I even liked a song on Load or Reload, there's something cool about 'Until it Sleeps'. Now that I destroyed my cred, I might as well ask if anyone knows what effects the rhythm guitars of Nightwish use? I'm not a fan of the music, but I adore the fat, heavy sound of the guitar(s). Can anyone recommend some 'gateway metal' for me? I like Metallica's old albums, especially Master of Puppets, call of Ktulu being my favourite. Also In Flames, Amon Amarth, Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Slayer and I think Dragonforce and Hammerfall are terrible. | ||
