Anyway, new Gorguts album is pretty sick. Got quite a bit of that Ulcerate focus on atmosphere and dissonance. New Carcass is also pretty damn good, it does indeed sound like a blend of Necroticism and Heartwork with some modern thrashy influence in the mix for good measure. So I definitely recommend that y'all check those out. Now get hyped for Ulcerate's own new album ^^ Random song I've been digging lately:

Had the Wacken livestream on last weekend, but they didn't stream enough bands, with this schedule it looks like Bloodstock are doing it the right way

Also Havok on the 30th! so stoked. Probably my 3rd favorite thrash band already behind 1. Anthrax, and 2. Death Angel. :D

Hopefully they release a new album this year :\

They alone were bad and Ihsahn weren't making it really any better. After that gig some people even wondered if even coming back with Emperor in next year (possibility) could help him. I have lot of respect for him, but really, that concert was nothing else but plain bad. Couple of recent listens:

After is considering by lots of metalheads to be one of the greatest albums in a long long time. He is a genius....I assumed you meant Ihsahn underperformed live but it sounds like you just aren't a fan (congrats you're the first metalhead I've ever seen make that claim!) D:

D: Some people I obviously doesn't know, but which were clearly disappointed after his gig. Yup, seems legit and all and I understand if you don't take it too seriously ![]() He's a genius? I wouldn't say so. Yes, I'm not a fan of his work, nor Emperor. I respect what he has done, I like him for his philosophy and even sometimes enjoy some of his music. But, not a fan. Am I first to not like him? Meh, I doubt it ![]() ![]() Back to Brutal Assault - maybe try to find his concert on youtube, I bet somebody recorded it. I didn't like it at all, but again, avantgarde + Ihsahn isn't my thing too.

The funny thing about this post is that the term "kvlt" has recently taken a 180 to the point where it's mostly used by people to mock black metal hipsters (which are some of the worst hipsters I've encountered personally). I will say though that I feel Emperor are a little bit overrated, but then again all of the "classics" in every other subgenre of metal are so meh... Anyway, speaking of old school black metal: From the Emperor and Enslaved split including the EPs Emperor and Hordanes Land. ![]()

Lol dude I swear I've met some people online who claim to only listen to obscure demo tapes by early 90s black metal bands that I personally have never heard of. The kind of stuff that would make Paysage D'Hiver sound like overproduced modern tech-death. And they denounce everything else as being trash, even the classics. Yeah... I feel that goes a little bit beyond just "elitist" but maybe it's just me. :/
