I think it's more like they sponsor players and use the players fame to attract corporate sponsors to fund the organization, I believe that's how it is for reputable western orgs anyways

I wonder if valve is ok with giving them the money over a few years to reduce the taxes. I know lottery can do it and also to keeps people sane after winning so much money.

Probably comes down to local laws of the winning teams, but a really good point that i hope Valve has considered.

yeah pretty much. a lot of teams shit the bed at TI. IMO TI2 IG and TI3 Alliance were the only teams that were the best all season and also won TI

TI2 iG was not the best all season. Chinese teams were super inconsistent in pre-TI2 DotA 2 events due to SEA ping (Perfect World server didnt exist yet), and in DotA, and in DotA 1 they had a super inconsistent season in the 6 months prior to TI2 (basically their 6.73 slump sowed the seeds of the Chuan/Zhou discontent that resulted in the team breaking up after TI3).


yeah I kinda cheated there. they had that period post TI though so I fudged it a bit. otherwise only alliance were consensus best.

a lot depends on the cadence of major patches and whether the best pre-ti patch team can survive the transition to TI patch. pro dota will always be volatile cause of this unless icefrog changes his philosophy.

Thats for EG/Alliance. Doesn't mean every org takes the same amount.

20% was Alliance's cut. But I'm sure it's all pretty similar from team to team. 10% cut is probably a really good deal for these players.

Translation was abit off for the DC question. Innocence interpreted the question as "why did DC lose?", instead of "any good things to say about DC who fought well?" His reply also did not have any BM in it. He thought DC couldn't adjust and show their full potential after game 2.

Anyway the team with the widest variety of strategies won. Can't complain about that. This was what DK2014 was suppose to be, but the team started showing fear. Wings were fearless. Pudge in grand finals? They were daring. Fully deserved win.

Man this TI was amazing, so so good, I was cheering for Alliance but didn't really expect them to win, still they had a good run. Wings are just amazing players, extremely entertaining to watch them play, so good, I mean that last game they were down by quite a bit and one good team fight was all it took to turn it around, that AM was godlike >.< so good.

The only thing that bothered me was that the casters, all of them, kept saying "spended" that isn't really a word D:, really makes me question if these guys are native english speakers.

nonetheless indeed. It's massive pay day. The only thing I worry about it is that it's going to kids who have only played dota their whole lives and don't know a damn thing about money or finance. I hope Valve offers some kind of guidance to these kids.
