the losers of those games only had a chance to play once in a main event. that's brutal.
Well on the other hand it makes teams take group stage games much more seriously.
Well... VG.R and Col were both 0-4 in the group stages. EG and Wings were 3-5. It does seem a little unfair to me that VG.R/Col knocks out EG/Wings in 1 game. It might be more fair if 3rd in each group gets seeded into lower bracket and 4th gets eliminated immediately, though there's valid arguments for any format.

There's nothing fair to begin with when you have a double elim bracket that doesn't allow the winner of the top bracket double elimination. It's all entertainment value as far as I'm concerned.

Assuming the groups are balanced, yes. if you take away MVP liquid game. it is basically Group A>B and C>D,
Newbee are gonna flatline DC today. 2-0, won't be close. Completely different tier of team.
LGD might struggle with Fnatic and their playstyle, but I expect veteran discipline to overcome, 2-0 or 2-1.
Liquid should 2-0 coL easily, end of the line for Swindle. But they might have an epic cheese, so you never know.
El Classico! Who the fuck knows, both teams are on the outside looking in, and can't really touch the top teams at this tournament. But they play each other very well, and are close in skill. Should be a fun one.

Judging from the group stage, I think Fnatic has the upper hand versus LGD. And the home crowd in Manila is kinda scary, I don't think the soundproof booth can be that perfect. Shout out to the pinoy audiences, continue the great work.
But historically, LGD has almost perfect record against SEA teams.. And hope Xiao8 has recovered from his acute gastroenteritis.

There was a point in the Mineski vs Alliance game yesterday when Mineski went for a smoke through their jungle to clash with Alliance on the other side. The crowd shouted really loud and suddenly S4 or Bulldog just turned their back and ran (Alliance was also 3 or 4 man down the radiant's jungle as well). Now it could be just me imagining things or Alliance players got ridiculous star sense but yea
Sitting here in mall of Asia and the crowd isn't that full out. There was so much hype for Navi for weird reasons. Lots of people laughed at envy/team secret yesterday. That said the atmosphere and country is amazing!
