Even in the Summit which they won in the end they dropped games in every series and some of the deciding games were very close. Also if you look at them at Frankfurt, MLG etc. they barely scraped by some of their series but still won and got deep into the events. Honestly, no team has been hugely convincing since TI5. The last great team in Dota 2 was EG with Aui. TI6 is going to be interesting for sure.

I wouldn't say they were messing around . Playing standard isn't the only way to playing seriously. They seriously believed in that strategy to work and they just lost, no need to overthink it.

Idk about that. EG wasn't that different even with that lineup. They "only" won TI and DAC as far as I recall in terms of LANs. At DAC they were dominant in the last few days but were not ahead of the pack before it. At TI also it was not like they dominated throughout the event. I suppose the one big difference to this lineup is that now they didn't win the major, but their performance in events overall was not that different. It's easier to say after a few of these majors whether someone constantly shines in the biggest events. But outside of the majors noone has really had runs similar to what Secret did in May-June where they were really dominant. In terms of actual results Secret wasn't so far from that pre-Frankfurt but they were not just beating everyone from start to finish in the tournaments. In fact they somewhat struggled early on and then won the games that mattered.
