With competition tight as it is (anyone can take a single game off of each other on a lucky day), its slightly better than a coin flip. But its just a weird compromise between cut throat group stage(teams being eliminated) vs far more relaxed group stage(just being sent to losers in double elim which is bad too but not that devastating for all the matches and effort you get put thru), so I get the point, bo1 is needed to keep that balance as i see it.... but if thats the case just dont have group stage imo. If you want each team playing each other then there should be a separate regular season for that. I'm curious to see which of the 4 losing team will lose at draft vs losing with untimely bad plays. At least there's a drafting stage so they won't get eliminated by a 1-1-1 (or whatever equivalent strat nowadays).
Next year we'll have the Majors, so that may be some form of regular season. Kinda like the WCS of sc2 - regional/seasonal tournaments, culminating into a Global Finals which will be TI.... which I think I'd prefer over "invites".

Ideally you would have bo3's all the way, but that would again mean one additional day at Key Arena. The tournament already runs for 6 days there, and I assume the venue is booked for some time beforehand to set it up and also afterwards to take everything away. Not sure what exactly were the reasons for doing it this way, but time is certainly one big restriction.
Really looking forward to having the event start. There's zero matchups that I'm not interested in.

you could manage in six days still monday - winners round 1 x4 tuesday - losers round 1 x4 wednesday - losers round 2 x4 thursday - winners round 2 x2, losers round 3 x2 friday - losers round 4 x2, winners final, losers round 5 saturday - losers final, grand final
makes it harder to fit in the all star game cos all days have 4 BO3 and long days are more likely but I'd've liked this more. plus you won't need to split rounds over days e.g. winners round 1 and losers round 4 matches are split over two diff days

I wanna watch the games live I don't wanna stay up. Sucks being in sea.

yea,it sucks to be in sea ...first game starts at like 12 am here..good thing i can catch few games at the end.

That's true, actually that kind of schedule seems very good. Personally I think allstar games are a complete waste of time and should be removed completely. But if a lot of fans like them I guess Valve will continue to arrange them. And yea it's very hard to fit the allstar game to the schedule you proposed.

you know how people feel about reading everything before posting. Hell I still remember going through tests in school and people didn't even read THOSE questions fully before answering and getting shit wrong. It's just the way things are

Bo1 elimination is so questionable. I get that it's after group stages and they have time constraints, but still.

I completely disagree. It's Bo1 for the teams that did very poorly in their groups. They are lucky to have a Bo1 scenario.
IMO waving good bye to navi, fnatic, newbee, and hotsix while placing VP, VG, IG, and phoenix directly into the losers bracket would have been more fair.

What is the best way to get spoilerless VODs? The small VODs thread is no longer in use apparently.

I intend on using the new spoiler free subreddit to watch all the games I'm not yet up to date on.

There's the link if anyone else needs it.

I'm an Empire fanboy but I honestly think we can upset LGD

Man, Newbee and IG must be so nervous right now. The chance of getting eliminated by MVP was probably not in the realm of possibility for them coming into the tournament. Anything can happen in bo1, and if they get eliminated from TI by the MVPs, their fans would be like "disband NOW"

I am really excited for the main event. The group stage was a lot closer in competition than I thought going in, with quite a few upsets and surprises. It should be a great tournament all around.
My question is, will we have a final as nail bitingly close as TI3? I really hope so.
