He set his quick buy to dagon 3. Since he had dagon 1 he needed two more recipes to get dagon 3 and they both went into quick buy.

and macros arent illegal in pubs, cause whos gonna know lol i dont think anyones tried using them in a pro game but honestly you dont even need them
Say I had a macro that was for invoker. I could do F1: Send{E, Q, E, R}; So whenever I wanted to summon forge spirits when I didnt have that skill active, I would do F1 -> cast. That is legal? I could set up every invoker skill like this?

How did he do that?

The recipe for Dagon 3 is Mystic staff + null talisman + recipe + recipe + recipe.
So adding dagon 3 to your quickbuy queues up those items. Seems simple enough to me.

Say you have a dagon 1 and you use it to get a kill on riki and now ur down to 10 hp. U walk back to base to heal and while you're healing you think to yourself "I already know the next two things I will buy, and they are both dagon recipes" (i.e. "i want a dagon 3"). You open shop, click on the picture of the dagon, and then below that the dagon pops up with a diagram for the 3 items needed in order to make a dagon, one of which is a recipe. You hold shift and then click on the picture of that dagon recipe. You then hear a sound informing you that the dagon recipe has been added to your quick buy box. You then think to urself "but I want 2 of them" so you do it again (hold shift and click the recipe) and the same thing happens (the sound plays) but in your quick buy box there is still only 1 recipe. If you get enough gold and right click that item from ur quick buy, ur quick buy will be empty.

You click on dagon1, then you click on dagon2, ... click on dagon 5, shift click the dagon5.
Recipes galore.

If you left click dagon, in the diagram that shows the item buildup dagon 2 will be above it (so you keep clicking it, it'll go up to dagon 5, in which case shift-clicking the item will cause 5 recipes to be in your quickbuy).

In solo queue AP it feels like there is active counter picking with people taking the gold hit to get a favorable match up. What are some heroes that don't have clear cut counters?

But I think Counterpicking in general is overrated as fuck and it's better to pick heroes that has synergy within your own team.

Disruptor is a weak laner and will lose his lane 2v2 more often than not and beastmaster is very sad against aba.

disruptors pretty strong in lane he has 600 range and massive nukes and beastmaster does fine against aba, u can shield off the roar but half the hero is hawk + aura anyway

The problem with the whole synergy thing I feel is in Solo Queue noone knows what they are doing. eg. an axe/dark seer where the axe will not harass with ion shell.

when i shift click dagon 5, it just gives me all the recipes in the quickbuy section, if ur buying dagon 3, probably gonna go up to 5 so just do that.

Counterpicking is certainly overrated in the whole-game scheme of things, but that's small consolation when you pick weaver and end up against bloodseeker+slardar+sky.
I can see how heroes that sidestep that would be attractive. Really I think you'd just want to avoid the really obvious stuff, like peekaboo invis (vs. slardar/BH/bloodseeker/Zeus) meepo/illusion heroes (vs. Earthshaker. Every damn time.), fragile spell spammers (vs. silence/doooooom) and the fotm mids everyone's learned to hate.
If your counter is too sophisticated for the average lastpicker to put together in five seconds, you're probably okay in soloQ.

pretty well-said.
honestly, in a pub, we're not dealing with two evenly skilled pro teams where everyone is necessarily playing heroes they know in and out. realistically, there are a lot of variables in play in pubs and sometimes its not enough to just counterpick the enemy (with the obvious exceptions you listed above).

If they pick Abaddon to counter roar, then they have a shit laner themselves instead.
"Can't pick Riki cause he's countered by Doom." "Can't pick SD cause he's countered by Doom." "Can't pick Tiny cause he's countered by Doom."
The game doesn't really work like that since Doom only has one ultimate.

http://www.playdota.com/forums/blog.php?b=146964 This has how to get the colour codes. Paste them before whatever you want to change colour. Changing on player name as it is about no longer works.
