Question: Just got ranked MM yesterday (also my first rampage). Anything I need to knows/learn from the transition of pubbies to ranked??
Because Viper is probably strongest mid in game currently if you're playing soloqueue, especially with fall of Obsidian Destroyer and lack of Razor. Also he's just sick in 2v2 situations, he might not have best scalings in game but oh boy, dare you to underestimate 6-slotted Viper in late game.
Nothing, publics are same to rankeds. They were different in first 2 days after ranked introduction, when everyone was tryharding and 0 randoms in all pick mode. Now it's same, but you just lose/win points in rankeds.
But pls. If you're playing ap, don't random in rankeds. That's it.

It's honestly the same. If you want to play ranked to get better games, stick to playing CD/CM. The search times are slightly longer, but you (generally) get better communication and lanes.

Or you get people who immediately grab captain, then don't speak at all until they've picked all 5 heroes. But yeah, in my experience CD and CM are generally better---just don't expect a big shift from nonranked.

What is the best mana regen item to get on a carry, such as Mirana? I was playing a game the other day and it always felt like I was out of mana (granted I wasn't budgeting it well) and had to constantly go to base. In the end I bought a void stone to start a linkens, but the game didn't go long enough. Is it worth going any regen to sacrifice gold that could be going to dps?

Where are you playing her? Mid? If so bottle is a great item.

Honestly, if you get Drums + Aquila, you will have a decent enough mana pool to sustain you pretty well. You shouldn't spam starfall in farming as unless you get a linkens (linkens first IS a thing, but pretty situational), you will run out of mana.

I wasn't playing her mid, I was safe lane. I went Aquila, but didn't finish the drums. The game was pretty action packed, and we roamed around the map getting a kill every few minutes, so I was constantly using Moonlight Shadow and throwing arrows. I think if I actually payed attention to mana more, aquila drums should've covered it. And also, is first item bottle on Mirana (safe lane) a thing in pubs? I played two games in a row where I supported a Mirana, and she went bottle only for her first item. I don't think I'm in the trench right now and it seems like a very odd thing to do.

Bottle on safelane isn't that good; its situationally okay on an offlane where mirana is roaming a lot and throwing arrows on mid a ton (obviously fine on mid). Otherwise aquila / drums / wand will cover it typically.

phase aquila drums my man. you just have to learn when to use your skills. phase aquila already gives you enough damage to last hit creeps if you still want to rice and use starfall and arrow during fights. ferry clarities for mana regen if really needed

If you're farming her safe lane, I would get aquila as soon as you can, then grab a bracer and power treads. Bracer can turn into drums like other people have said, and if you are good at toggling your treads it can save you quite a bit of mana---usually enough to squeeze out another arrow (switch to intelligence whenever you cast a spell---that way you use a smaller % of your mana pool when you cast, meaning you actually save mana when you toggle back to agility or strength). As long as you don't just throw out starfalls for no reason, you should have enough mana whenever you fight.

Awesome. Thanks for all the replies guys, now I know how to play Mirana (at least regarding mana) better . Now I just need to hit my arrows...

I have a tingling feeling they changed ghost scepter because of Huskar. How does it work now with orb effects?
Can you still orb out of etheral manually? And can you orb onto an etheral enemy manually?

Huskar can't attack from ghost form.

Ah so other heroes wasn't effected.
Eblade legit on Drow if enemy is mainly physical DPS? Eblade on lvl 16 Trax with no other items is almost 600 magic dmg alone. Of course you can only slow that target after you cast it but still.
Edit: So which is it, only Huskar or all heroes? Other forums seem to suggest that Orb behaviour in Dota 2 is bugged and allows manual cast on etheral targets and that the effects go through (slow for drow, dmg for some other heroes).

Edit: Ah, I remember now. They changed Burning Spears, not ghost scepter right? It used to be an unique attack modifier, but it isn't anymore, correct?

The bug is that if you cast an orb on someone who then activates Ghost Scepter, they still receive the other effects of the orb--whereas they should receive no effect at all. You still cannot manual-cast orbs on them after they have entered the Ethereal state and this has always been the case.

If this works, and I'm getting more confused about it through this discussion, then eblade on Drow actually doesn't sound that bad. Agi bonus is nice, plus the above mentioned bonus magic damage.
Edit: Nevermind, thanks Yango

Ah, Yango to the rescue. Thanks a lot for the tip. Didn't recognize you at first though, there's not a gavel by your name anymore, still getting used to Liquid Dota.

I actually tested it myself too in the meantime and Yango is (as always) totally correct.
