seeing synderen on kotl atm,
it brought up the question why this hero ignores manaleak early on.
it forces teh enemy to hold still or lose mana. followed by a illu-spam this is early on a really annoying thing.

so whats the reason why this skill isnt used t hat often?
Ooooh, look at it go

The other thing to point out is that even when BFury is/was good on Jugg, it typically was't as a first item, but as a transition after early fighting items for games where your team could get an early advantage but the overall tempo of the game slowed down into a farming phase. So in many cases where BFury is good on Jugg, it's not as a BFury rush, but as a 2nd or 3rd item after Phase+Drum or Phase+Drum+Yasha.

thanks guys for the bfury comments. I feel like juggernaut is in weird position where by all means can be seen as a carry but it is also more and more used for his pushing power. I remember when ward was skilled at lvls 22-25. Now with ward jugger is pretty useful in early and midgame kinda snowballing with aghs etc. It's really different from other carries (I even wonder if he's the carry type anymore).

i tend to go midas first on jugg into phaseboots into whatever i deem fitting. he is fairly easy to lane and often you can fb with ease (provided your supports are not useless). i like midas on jugg because i think getting 11 is huge on him, omnislash is quite a bit stronger at lvl 11 and his solo kill potenial becomes much higher. phaseboots is nice in combination with bladefury and damage scales better with his crit and ult so i tend to never get treads.

after that just get a damage item or fast aghs and good to go, i tend to skip drums since i dont see a need for drums in pubs when most of the time you are not grouped, wand is more than enough for your mana needs and with phase jugg is faster than most heroes due to his already fast base ms.

- its a % of max mana (3.5% -> 5%) per 100 units. lasts only 4 seconds at level 1 so it'd be rare for the stun to actually proc
- his other spells are way more important (damage on kotl blast, amount of mana heal/cd reduction, versus a very unreliable stun)

Even at rank 1, someone running the whole time is 40% of their mana pool, which basically no hero can deal with early game. You're not ranking it for the stun, you're ranking it because it puts them in an awkward position where they have to choose between staying put, or losing a few dozen mana. In the case that there's a followup KotL blast, that's often the choice between ~10% or more of your mana pool or 25% of your health.

It's really good in pubs because people will get into shitty situations where mana leak can basically checkmate them... but I can see the more calculated play of pro games meaning that it isn't an absolute "rank this at/before level 5", but more a situational choice.

The main problem of Mana Leak's low ranks is that the range is so low. The range scales from 550->1000. 1000 range you can use pretty comfortably, but 550 range is prohibitively low.

A few reasons I'd imagine:

Level 1 mana leak has a poor casting range (550) and KotL generally wants to be more or less out of the fight doing his thing with his long range on abilities. Getting within the standard nuke range of 600 is pretty dangerous when all you get out of it is an effect weaker than a root or slow (until they stun from moving)

Chakram scales really well. It's about a 40% to 100% boost over the previous level for every point. The scaling is 2.6/5.4/9.4/13.4 or % wise -/107%/57%/40% over the previous level.

I think it's just a matter of cost benefit. With the small range at level 1 and KotL's desire for max nuke + max chakram early it's tough to devout the skill point.

In most situations you would want to get illuminate or chakra for yourself or your team, mana leak is either for doing some combo with team (e.g. long range disable and then you go mana leak) or you get it early to mess with some specific heroes namely Storm. KotL skill build is very situational dependent in the first place, like 3-1-2-1 at lvl7 is probably the most all-rounded skill build.

i agree, it depends on the lineup on the other side. but when they have low-range or even melees in your lane i would consider it to be useful to harass them with manadrain.
some coordination with your lanemates and the other team is forced to move, so they burn some of their mana.

in lategame its different, there you can play like a bloodseeker. just drain them and forcestaff them, 30%mana gone.

I love to play Enigma but I wonder why Enigma is sometimes picked in competitive. In which situation is he usually picked or whats the reason in the draft? He farms up jungle pretty well and can get a fast mek, but other than that I dont really see much of a benefit. His stun is ok-ish and landing a black hole relies too much on bad positioning from the other team (even if u get 1 or 2, unless u dont get everybody who can cancel ur blackhole its kinda useless).

Enigma is far more than an ulti. With his stun and eidolons, hes a very good ganker and pusher. Navi used to draft him as solo offlane for a while around ti2 (and if progamers can hit amazing ultis vs some of the best teams in the world, then its not just flukes or based on enemy playing bad). Youll have to pick him late though, as there are many a heros who just makes him instantly useless even through bkb. Competitive scene have steered away from big ulti heroes of late, so hes simply out of fashion atm.

I think Enigma can be picked solely for his jungling and pushing power. Since 6.79 is launched, I expect his return to jungle or offlane.
