i'm still a noob at the game but for now, I feel most comfortable with Sniper.
I currently go for wraith, treads, aquila, wand, shadow blade, desolator, mkb, then bf (in that order)
so it looks like treads, shadowblade, desolator, mkb, bf, and 2 tp scrolls as my items....I haven't hit a super late game where I would trade the shadowblade and possibly the treads for bot and whatever else so not sure what to get but I have a few questions...
Sniper has the mini bash and was thinking "why not try to maximize his attack as much as possible..that way it will look somewhat like a permabash" so MoM and Mjo came up in mind...should I get a MoM and if so when should i get it (after/before shadowblade). And what about Mjo? So basically I would have bot/mjo/mom/deso/mkb/bf
The thing I don't like about going this route is having desolator/mom/mjo can be quite bad since they are unique attack modifiers.
Which brings up my next question...I understand like they aren't suppose to stack but why do I see some players still get 2 unique attack modifier items then?
|
Mjolnir stacks with other unique modifiers when it doesn't proc, deso doesn't stack with lifesteal thou so that's a bad idea. Mjolnir is great item on sniper, with a tiny bit of luck you can effectively perma stun somebody with the attack speed it gives.
|
should i just skip the mom then...i feel like desolator is a better item than mom with the armor reduction
im thinking shadowblade into desolator into mjo into mkb
or should i get maelstrom before desolator to help farm better?
|
Sniper is incredibly squishy making MoM more of a, crap we're losing and I need to make a difference NOW kind of item. In other circumstances I would agree that deso would be a better choice.
Mjolnir is an excellent item offering a pretty big DPS increase along with a big increase in farming ability, something that sniper arguably needs. Generally getting a maelstrom is a fairly good choice, and if you do, I would do it before the deso. If you can skip the aquila, I would. It's a decent early fighting item, but honestly it doesn't offer all that much to sniper past the stats. A wraith to start is fine (or even just double slippers), but aquila I think is overkill (you really don't need the mana regen) unless you need it to fight early (like drums).
Oh, and MKB, while a great item, I would probably hold off on unless there was a butterfly carrier on the other team. I would probably just either go into the butterfly, or into a crit. Don't underestimate the power of a manta style either. You also don't mention BKB, which could be a very important item if you're getting locked down in fights.
|
yeah i'll try skipping the aquila thanks
so about crit...is daed better than mkb generally or is it situational?
I'm always confused on which one is better
and yeah I forgot to mention BKB :p
yeah i dont understand that much about manta style...I feel like I just pop out 2 illusions and have them target a hero but that's it...idk all the benefits/strengths of the manta style unfortunately from the games I played
and what about eye of skadi? should i get this item and if so what should i replace it with
|
don't underestimate the illusions - Mantastyle is a great item for a lot of agility heroes since it gives good damage and utility (send illusions to destroy buildings, using mantastyle dispells certain things like silence, pushing waves, whatever use you could have for illusions). The illusions also do good damage.
Get MKB if someone on the other team is getting a Butterfly, otherwise get Daedelus (but only after you have another damage item)
also I know this isn't the advice you were looking for, but you shouldn't focus on Sniper as your first hero, imo. There are other easier, funner heroes to learn to play with.

yeah was told that by most of my friends and tried a lot of the heroes out but i just felt most comfortable with Sniper

I generally play supports (Enigma, CM, Leshrac) so what could I be doing to deal with the Bounty Hunter better? The games I've lost recently have all been to a BH farming up hard. If I play a support should I just dedicate myself to his lane and drop key wards (because I can't depend on pubs to do it)

Sniper has no escape, no good way to farm, and his ult isn't an especially good ganking skill (as opposed to what ganking carries like CK and SB have). His carry potential comes from being an agility hero with innate mini-bash. Thus you get the most out of him by building attack speed, since the minibash gives you extra damage.
Maelstrom is nice on him since it's a farming tool and builds into mjolnir, the best attack-speed item. Shadowblade is okay as an escape, but is nullified by a 180 gold item. Sniper has no real synergy with manta beyond being an agility hero. Desolator increases your damage output a lot, but doesn't have any special synergy with Sniper (whereas it does on some heroes, like Weaver), so I don't recommend it. Drum is a nice early item, helps you survive-- which is your biggest problem. MKB is really nice, because it'll proc even more minibashes, and lets you siege t3 towers very easily. Ideally you should have an attack speed item before it though (mjolnir). Butterfly isn't bad, but has an awful build-up. Because of your attack range BKB isn't always necessary depending on the your and the enemy teams' compositions. If they have good gap-closing abilities you should probably get it after maelstrom. The pieces of skadi aren't very useful to you, and the final product just gives you a nice orb-- no real damage or attack speed.
So overall I'd recommend treads drum (unless your cs is pretty good and you anticipate being able to sit back and farm in midgame, in which case you can skip drum) maelstrom bkb mjolnir mkb ac/bfly.

I'm quoting you specifically for the part about the desolator. I have 2 questions, first one is that if I look at the wiki for example it says "Armor reduction does not stack, even from multiple sources." What does this mean specifically, does it just mean multiple desolators because I know things like meld strike from TA stack (I think). Also what do you mean deso doesnt stack with lifesteal? Thank you in advance.

mkb trueshot doesnt work on towers, it was fixed it means that multiples deso wont stack, however deso+meld+ac will work

if BH got farmed hard then it's because someone fed him. You don't really have control over your teammates, but basic wards + sentries should be able to alert you when BH is going somewhere/catch him. I recommend even buying dust and putting it in teammates' slots.
depending on what support you play, you can deal out a lot of damage early on to kill BH. I have a lot of fond memories of blowing up BH/Riki/Clinkz because they underestimate a timely dust+a quick one-two spell combo. Beside the obvious effect of killing them, you also gain a psychological edge on them. For the rest of that match they'll either a) fear you and stay away, or b) consistently try to kill you out of spite, which should result in them dying more.

you can only have one unique attack modifier on a hero. Lifesteal counts as a unique attack modifier, as does Deso/Skadi/Manaburn/whatever. Some heroes have their own unique attack modifiers (Clinkz, OD, AM, Ursa, Drow, Spectre, list goes on).
Two exceptions - Mjollnir/Maelstorm can stack with other UAM because it doesn't proc consistently Vlads counts as an Aura and not as a UAM, hence why you get it on AM/Ursa (heroes with UAM of their own) and not some other kind of lifesteal.

I never knew lifesteal counted as a UAM, that makes sense. I understand now thank you.

The main synergy of manta for sniper is that combined with his ridiculous attack range, it lets you siege towers by popping manta and letting your illusions whack away from long range. Unlike other illusion heroes that do this, the range lets you do this without putting your illusions in (that much) harms way, usually letting them hit for the full duration. If the enemy wants to get rid of your illusions, they often have to commit further than they would like.

Some funny exceptions exist. My favorite for UAMs(or orb effects, like we used to call them in dota 1): Clinkz fire arrows stack with skadi. Yes, it doesn't make any sense. Skadi stacks with Curse of Avernus. 50% slow on hit doesn't seem fair and it doesn't feel fair, but that's only a problem if you are not the Lord of Avernus. (Skadi is addicting, it should have a warning label.)
An early Yasha provides 31% attack speed and 16 damage for agi heroes along with 10% ms. It is good on many agi carries because most of them lack dps and killing tools early. 10% ms is a killing tool, yes. Not very strong, but its contributing. It is not good on PA because she doesn't have these exact weaknesses. She gets good attack speed and a decent killing tool(4 second slow on 8 sec cd) from her skillset. Assuming you build phase boots she doesn't even get that much from some more movespeed. What PA lacks is staying power. More HP. I recommend being 4-1-1-1 at lvl 7 and getting stats till lvl 10. Then get more phantom strike after lvl 2 ulti.

skadi's a buff placer not an orb effect it's kind of confusing but skadi kinda sux anyway so don't worry about it
on sniper just build raw damage. sometimes you have to build bkb but that probably means you're losing

Is it good to buy Soul Ring on PL?

I have a friend who lanes with Soul Ring, Tranq Boots on PL and farms up radiance in about 20 minutes if the game goes well.
It's almost like having Ezalor giving him mana. I think we went SD/Jakiro to support him or might've even been SD/Nyx.

depends on lane sometimes sr wins you the lane, sometimes its a waste of gold
