I can see the Rtz stack with cr1t being announced after ti6, it was rumored it was going to be locked in before the last lock, but rtz choose to go with Secret instead. You mean to say RTZ goes to OG to replace n0tail and turn another team into trash just to keep building up his fame?
Well rtz is much better than n0tail.the problem is that i dont think he can play in a 4 protect 1 strategy without him being the farming core

If EG bombs out at Manila (which is what I expect) then the upside is they'll be playing at Nanyang and The Summit 5, so that'll be good practice for TI.

Even if he could play the space creator role wich im not sure he can it would be a waste of his talent.after all he is one of the best farmers of the west if not the world.Same goes for miracle: even though he can play a space creator its a waste of his farming skills

Good thing for EG is that their ti6 invite is secured because they are defending their title.Newbee changed the roster after ti4 and didnt really do anything before ti5 and they still got an invite so i would imagine same goes for EG

EG's TI invite has never been in question, they have been too good and too consistent not to invite them.

EG, TL, Secret, OG and MVP.P all should be locks for TI.
Top 4 at Manila as well.
ESL One Frankfurt winner should be the last shot at an Invite, as well.
And Alliance probably ends up being the Marginal 10th Invite, lol.

What if those teams get top 4 in manila? MVP TL and OG are all serious contenders. who do they invite next?

If we got a repeat of the Top 4 from Manila, there's still who gets 5th through 8th at the Major and previous LANs.
And Alliance probably gets that 10th invite spot, haha. (They've won 2 International LANs and if they get 5th-8th, they'll get an invite.)

Time for some EG hype in here! What do you guys expect from EG at Manila?
As every other fan of other teams have pointed out, EG are kinda lucky to start off in Manila with Mineski, it wont be easy playing against a team playing on "home turf". But a win should be expected. MVP.P is the clear group favourits, but I am hoping for EG to clinch the second place in groups ahead of LGD whom I personally havent seen to much of the last couple of months. From reading what others say about them, they are still struggling to get a good grip of the patch, and are not able to win over the stronger Chinese teams atm (Wings, Newbee.).
Some of the play at Epicenter was decent, even the games we lost were often close. I personally felt they lacked the most chemistry in the mid and lategame, espcially in the midgame were they were used to Universe making plays and take over the game. And im hoping to see especially Aui on some new heroes (no more lifestealer first phase pls).
Meh, got a bit longer then intended, im most interested to know what u others expect of EG and what is an acceptable placement for them.
My expectations: #2 in groups, win upper bracket round 1, lose in round 2, and lose in lower bracket round 4, end 5-6'th, wich would be an acceptable finish for the new squad imo.
|
The real question is, can EG beat MVP.P?
LGD is stronger than you give them credit for; they 2-0'd Ehome and drew 1-1 with Newbee 10 days ago. MVP, on the other hand, has been playing like crap since they beat EG 3-0.
I expect LGD to be 1st, then EG to beat MVP and go to upper bracket. Then they'll lose to Team Liquid (1st place group C vs 2nd place group D) and be sent to the lower bracket.
For the first time in a while, I think EG is a weaker team at this major. I expect them to finish 9/10th.
|
I did most of my calculations based of power ranks, elo ranks and from reading the 6 pages in the power rank thread. Most of what ive read is that people are rather sure that LGD is one of the weaker teams coming into the major (As I said, I havent seen them myself, so i dont know). And people are all sure MVP.p is top4 material, one even predicitng them to win the whole thing ahead of Liquid. So yeah, I dont know, but interesting to read a totally different opinion

i don't know how they will do this major. i doubt they will make top 3. i just don't feel like there is any motivation to "be the best" anymore from ppd, fear and sumail. maybe aui is still in tryhard mode since he experienced over 8 months of losses after ti5 and bulba is bulba. but the other 3 just don't seem like they want to be the best any more.
every since ti5 ppd's drafting has been off (and i don't just mean this fetish he has had with one core line-ups) and from his interviews it just seems like his focus at the moment is to make enough money to pay the bills and set him up for life, fear is cruising in the 4 role and sumail is in the "i won a ti, i've already proven i'm the best" mode.
i think EG will do poorly at this major and hopefully that will shake them back into wanting to win again come ti6. the team has just never felt the same since ti5 and thats not because of rtz coming and going or universe leaving. the team just feels dead and is getting by just on pure individual skill and experience.
|
I dont think the status of the team is as grim as you portray it... But I agree that I have felt a lack of motivation to be the best since TI5... This Major will give some answeres.

MVP is 3-11 against Fnatic, including losing 3 Best of 5's 1-3, 0-3, and 0-3. All this year. All in the past 3 months.
But MVP is going to win because that makes sense, power rankers.
LGD on the other hand, is much closer to 50% winrate against other top Chinese teams. Yeah, they lost to iG in the Summit 5, but they also beat VG.R 3-1 in ESL Frankfurt qualifiers.

Most of those games were when fnatic still had net though. Not saying that the new roster will fail.its too early to predict anything
