Zai confirmed in his EG interview on the website that they are attending Star Ladder for sure which is nice. However that tournament looks really broken haha. For a start Virtus Pro qualified for it which do not exist anymore.

I was watching PLD stream yesterday when he said to someone in his chat that Secret is going to SL too. Seems like both EG and Secret just want to get some games in. The event is a bit weird though given all the confusion about where it's actually held and participating teams not being known, but the prize pool still is 3x that of the Summit.

Apparently it was going to be in LA, then San Fran, and now the rumor is that it's going to be held at the BTS house, a week after The Summit 5.

EG & Secret had both planned to be at Nanyang, but that went... poorly. So getting some officials in before TI6 is good. There'll be 10ish days before the start of TI after the tournament finishes, and since they're on the West Coast already, that's fine for travel. Plus, I highly doubt most of the teams are flying back to the Europe after The Summit 5, so good teams for scrimming should be available for everyone the next several weeks.

Though since it's China we have the most games being played, I'm not really liking the current meta. It's Dazzle/Oracle + Glass Cannon... a lot. Though Shadow Demon being completely meta is pretty cool.

Newbee dropped out, then iG couldn't secure Visas. So there was supposed to be. It's not quite a pure reverse of the what happened with Nanyang, but it's not too far off.

Weirdly, I think CDEC.Youth is going to do well. This is going to be a weird LAN, as no one is going to take any dives, but they're also not going to give up much information about their true meta picks going into matches. If it doesn't get banned, ppd probably first picks Dark Seer every game. It could turn into the one tournament where pure mechanical skill is what win matches, which would be kind of fun.

I also get the feeling that something like Mushi's Medusa is going to prevent us from seeing EG vs Secret. haha

Pretty nice draw, navi/fnatic should be a challenge, then probably Secret in that upper finals if we can negotiate them. However a double elimination tournament should be a good work out. Looking forward to it times and everything is updated on Liquipedia for the games so check it out!

I would argue that it's a pretty awful draw given the tournament. CDEC.y is definitely a good team (they 2-0 both DC and VGR at Nanyang) and so are Fnatic and NaVi while on the other half of the bracket you have the consistently disappointing DC, Col, Secret and VP minus fng.

I don't really know how to rate EG, Secret and Col but of the 5 remaining teams, I think the 3 best are on EG's side.

The bracket is good for EG. They need to play a lot of games against some solid competition. Though I wouldn't value CDEC.Y too highly. I watched those games vs DC & VG.R. CDEC.Y is a good tier 2 team, but it seemed far more like the other two weren't playing well at Nanyang. EG just needs to be ready for the push, if CDEC.Y goes that way. (LGD manhandled them pretty well, so I'm not worried. Beyond game 1.)

There's 6 TI6 teams at this tournament, so it'll be good experience for everyone. It'll also set the Meta going into the TI bootcamp Meta. (Part of the Meta shifts within TI comes down to what everyone was scrimming during the bootcamping phase. Then everyone responds to it.)

well if EG's aim is purely this SL then yes it's a shit draw. But if they want to defend their TI aegis then not only should they win regardless of the draw, but they also should dominate because the best teams of this SL (based on recent results) like Navi or fnatic got shat on hardcore by OG or Liquid.

I think EG has a better chance of beating CDEC.Y than Na'Vi // Fnatic.

I wouldn't be surprised if EG goes to the lower bracket in the 2nd round. It's impossible to judge the strength of EG vs top teams when they've only played 3 games with the new roster.

Well, just watched vod when i got to work. I was happy, bad start to game 1 but that don't stop us :D Easily brushed aside CDEC Youth, now onto Na'Vi!
Fear Jugg in game 2 was awesome, Zai on Shadow Demon was great too that game. Solid all games from Suma1l and Unigod. Throw in PPD AA and you got yourself a good comfortable series for EG :D
