A translation of the full interview is given below:
Interviewer: Thanks to iceice from Wings Gaming for accepting this interview. Congratulations on making it to ESL One Manila. How did you feel about the qualification?
iceice: I feel really good. This is another chance to compete at a LAN. We made good use of the transfer window to make it to the LAN. This will be another chance to practise with foreign teams.
Interviewer: Wings was performing very solidly. Like, you go high ground only after getting a large enough lead. Is this from the instructions of your coach or does this originate from the stable playstyle you have?
iceice: We don’t have a coach at the moment. But we are all agreeable. Every decision is made after we talk to each other and based on the situation in the game.
Interviewer: We found Wings has a special fondness for Bounty Hunter. No other team will put him in the first phase. [sic] How do you understand this hero in competitive play?
iceice: It’s basically a trade of money (in lane) for money (in kills). Our captain (Y) has a unique understanding of this hero. Maybe he’s better at making us play our own game.
Interviewer: You will be in the same tournament as teams like Liquid and Secret, do you fell under pressure?
iceice: There will certainly be pressure, after all now foreign Dota is better than CN Dota. But as TI6 approaches, we will turn the pressure into a valuable experience of practice, where we must take lessons from.
Interviewer: How do you think about the shuffle outside China? Do you feel Secret is overpowered? [Sic] Do you feel EG is weakened because of it?
iceice: We actually played them a lot, we feel Secret has always been strong. Puppey is their brain; EE is very agile as well. They might be even stronger after getting RTZ on board. Roster changes might not affect EG at all. There must be some reasoning behind transfer like this. They are still strong forces to be reckoned with.
Interviewer: We found you are very good at Position 4 Beastmaster. Do you feel this is a push patch still?
iceice: The strategy can change. You should push when you need to push. You should team fight when you need to team fight. We just pick a line-up with which we are familiar and can do as many things as possible.
Interviewer: We first got to know you on Team BG. How do you feel about that experience?
iceice: I am very grateful for BG, especially for Xiao8 who was the captain of the team. He gave me the chance to play. My time on BG was very much inspiring and encouraging for me. It made me to want to do better and win things.
Interviewer: A lot of Old Guards are in the heart of recent controversies. How do you feel about them as one of the former members of Team BG?
iceice:Burning is still one of the best Carries in China. His experience and skills are beyond doubt. Xiao8’s coming out of retirement will constitute a threat to us in the future, even though I think they are still forging their playstyles. LaNm’s transition is interesting. We don’t know how that will turn out, but we will certainly keep an eye on that.
Interviewer: Do you think Chinese Dota will be better off immediately after the shuffle?
iceice: There will certainly be improvement. There will be a lot of fresh blood as a lot of new players coming in. There are a lot of pub stars out there still. We will work hard to achieve more.
