One of the common threads with those people is they would tell racist jokes all the time And if you objected to one going too far or that it wasn’t funny, they say you were to sensitive and needed a sense of humor. They were the one that decided to tell racist jokes to me. They decided to tell some of the most offensive jokes to me. But somehow it is my fault for “Taking offense”. I brought it up. Everyone was having fun until I decided to be a big baby. Because that is how you make a safe space for racism. Everyone was fine until I made it about race. You are all smart enough to know that using the word Gay as a pejorative could make someone really uncomfortable. If you want to use the words, don’t act like you didn’t know it could offend someone. And don’t act like it’s their fault. | ||

And I'm not trying to be rude. Like someone who doesn't really give a shit about how his actions affect others. I am from a town of all white people surrounded by towns with all white people. We had one black family in 5 towns. They had one black child. That is the only black student that attended my high school. And then they moved. I never noticed how racist folks were until I moved away and came back. | ||

Most of my views and opinions are based on where I was from. on the topic of "a company should do something about this" i disagree the onus of denouncing things like this falls on the community. any company involved can mete out punishment (and probably should, in a lot of cases), but that's really only useful in reinforcing the broader disapproval of what should be socially unacceptable behavior in any given community people defending racism is a problem (even under the guise of "these words are interpreted differently in different cultures") because the dota 2 community definitely is multicultural and shouldn't be broadcasting any acceptance of what could be construed as hatespeech to any community it could interact with | ||

Maybe I'm just damaged from growing up in hockey culture where you'll hear everything that could possibly be seen as offensive and you quickly learn it doesn't really matter unless you make it matter. When it gets confrontational and physical on the other hand it's obviously not okay. | ||

But you didn't actually change the world one way or the other. That's because groups define themselves by who they aren't. So they probably were and still are having fun bonding over racist jokes, unless they changed that for some other group that bonds over being super woke about issues. Sorry to break it to you like this. Also most people understand they are joking about offensive stereotypes and make a difference between those and actual human beings. That's why often people who should be offended are indeed not. Maybe stereotypes aren't important anymore. I guess it's fine to be LGBT positive if you guys have the energy and time, you do you. You have my complete disinterest as long as my c#male privileges are unaffected and the wokeness doesn't get too overbearing. e. People's "just and equal society" also sounds like a couple gulags too many to me. | ||
