the first season was a struggle to get through, and what should have been the centerpiece of his relationships (the one with the three sisters) is sidelined

Dragon age dickpunching you with DLC you don't have made me resolve to not play it ever because -fuck- developers that think they can get away with that. Baldur's Gate ironically has a bit of the same but nowhere near as offensive. I like Baldur's gate (and other western RPGs or w/e you wanna call em) but prefer when they bother to actually tell me a story. Both Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity felt like they did a good job at storytelling. Also FFXIII's music is god-tier. Also a theme I noticed (FF6 and Chrono Trigger -also- have god-tier music). Also Also I think I was very near FF13 100%. I remember there being one thing I hadn't killed, what google reminds me is an Undying named Attacus. I'd killed adamantoise and done every other mission, but I'd tried fighting that dude a couple times and never finished him. So I didn't play DA:O until summer 2012 when I bought GOTY edition for 360 with all dlc content included, but uhh ya that sort of thing is annoying as fuck on release. The game however is absolutely god-tier fantastic in my book. Seems a bit of a shame not to play it now when its super cheap and include all dlc, Im pretty sure you can mod it to decent graphics on PC but I only played it on console, since the entirety of the 300 hrs I put into it was sitting in a little shack waiting out a setnet season that never happened. (im sure it was much healthier than drinking and staring at the water which was the other alternative)
The FFXIII 100% thing. You have to grind pretty good gear and the fights are obnoxious but its worth trying to do all the missions and kill everything if you want. The last few are quite hard. When I say 100% I refer to utterly pointless completion of all achievements. And that game has an achievement that requires 100s of hours of straight grinding beyond completing all game content. Its utterly pointless. But I did it so I dunno what that means. (Its an achievement to "obtain every item in the game", which is easy, but every item in the game has three upgrade levels and upgrades require GROSS amounts of grinding. Its a significant task to just max out your preferred weapon for each party member in your main group which is basically what you need to kill the last mission boss. Maxing EVERY weapon and every other item was utterly retarded.

I played it quite a bit (10 hours or so) before i quit. I remember combat being stale and basically relying on abusing mages' AoE in combat to feel like I had input into the combat. My character was a warrior and felt basically worthless. Iunno, the game just didn't capture me.
More importantly Merlini is not dead / streaming!
|
Ya dragonage is not really about the combat, its only even interesting on the hardest level and then you have to micro manage everything endlessly in tactical mode which I quite understand people not finding fun. The story/world/characters is what I mostly think is so good. (my original playthrough with the vast majority of my time was some super rp shit where I got it into my head I wanted to do this plate wearing battlemage godawful build)
first merlini stream in months one of two people I ever paid twitch sub for. heh

Idea for bane ult: instead of just draining health and mana, his ultimate ability now steals their gold at 100/150/200 gold per second and turns his victims into pay piggies

Yeah DAO is definitely not for the combat. It's about the lore/story and the fucking "every choice is bad" in almost every story arc of it.
Especially Baldurs Gate dear god the gameplay and the UI gives me a headache but the content of the game is great.
There's Black Desert Online if you want great gameplay(i didn't know anybody who played that game here . i thought it's pvp is great)

It's so frequent, and there's no possible explanation for it. Ok just now I write email, after sending I see that I wrote "than" instead of "that". what in the actual fuck. Being that my reaction when I saw this post was "who does that" I think you jinxed me. Although apparently I go the other direction. I mean if no NA team in top 8 than NA gets 2 qual slots 110% but yeah still a chance for weird shit to happen being that both Optic and EG lost to VGJstorm recently. I feel like if they just change the number of qual slots based on which teams are top 8 then the whole system is bullshit anyway I don't disagree with this necessarily, but they clearly will. Every tournament gives EU qualifier one slot because the good teams (liquid/secret) are already invited. by dpc points EU and CIS have been the strongest regions all season, but their qualifier teams never do shit. It grossly impacts how many teams you want out of the qualifiers. I mean, if you don't take into account who is getting invites when you assign qualifier slots you are going to piss people off the other direction because CLEARLY you are going to both have awful teams getting in some regions, and good teams not getting in other regions. I guess the point is that historically for all sorts of reason (fanbases, tournament location, wanting the monies, etc) Valve has never not had 2 NA teams (at least) at TI and if none get DPC points I see no way in hell they are changing that. /shrug It will be 2 NA slots unless it actually gives less qualifier slots to more deserving regions atm like SEA/CN then they'll get 1 spot. Don't see that happening though
Tradition has nothing to do with it. Last year NA had two slots because there was 3 teams who were doing relatively well on tournament pre-TI (c9, EG, Planet Odd) and one was already invited.

idk i think the story of daO pales compared to BG2 / something like Witcher3 but, its a good game. I liked it. Kinda in the mood to replay bg2 but...i really should beat pillars of eternity
|
Witcher 3 is the better game but story not sure about that. Witcher always felt relatively safe and predictable compared to Dragon Age in general(the mage-templar part of the Dragon Age is wayy too well done. The only time i've ever seen something like that was from WoT. The portrayed fear and paranoia was so good). Not sure if i prefer DAO over BG2
Anybody tried the divinity series ?

Divinity OS 1 and 2 are both fantastic. I strongly recommend D : OS 2 with a buddy.

anyhow isnt straight-white-male the biggest demographic for games applying these 3 criterias so i would say it kinda makes sense to market games towards that
then again thats prolly not even true for final fantasy games
|
yeah teh idea of accusing a final fantasy game of pandering to white men is just funny to me. literally the most twee series of all time lol

Witcher 3 story never really clicked on me because
"Man gotta find Ciri before the Wild Hunt, but maybe later as i still have time to play a round of gwent or help that old lady with her frying pan, super important stuff, much more than saving the world"
Yah... i really really like Witcher 3 and the story itself its good but it falls flat, i do believe that's more on me and the hate i have for open world games.
I mean, Zelda BOTW fixed all that with the idea you need to recover your power and that was essential part of the story overall, even Zelda has a line that says "you may not be at a point where you've recovered your full power, or all of your memories... But Courage need not be remembered. For it is never forgotten." See? Literally you could go around recovering your power or if you have the skills and the courage you can save the world right away

Does the two games connect well like Dragon Age ? (a less important question than the first one)

Of course there's a chance that a feminist says something intelligent or factually correct, it's bound to happen eventually. Facts are a patriarchal concept though hmm.
The real question is why are you paying attention?

i dont have any skin in the culture wars. its fun to watch tho

I have 100% completions on both xiii and xiii-2 tho so I am biased but ya... the difference between that and not being able to even finish the game is.... large. (DONT EVER TRY TO 100% XIII BTW) And no girls in xv so im pretty sure its not for ith, or me either (<3 lightning in xiii) 2/10 forget it.
They surely exist as talkable NPCs and stuff, no? I thought the whole point of the plot was to get Noctus to some girl so they could have a dating sim/romance subquest.

Umm... in the Kingsglaive movie she's there and that movie had me interested in playing the game, but I played.... a good bit. 20-30 hrs maybe (not quite sure it was a while ago) and there was literally no girls besides the one at gas station who is like intentionally out of place or something heh. So I guess shoot me for being shallow but it seriously detracted from my interest in the game. xd
The fishing though, is the best done sport fishing mini game (by far) of any game I've seen it in. Pretty much only thing I liked actually.

You stop fishing irl to fish in video games.
I guess I underestimated your love of that activity.
