I've had some really good marinades on chicken/steak for example. There's also really good steak rubs (spice). It's just super janky to use ketchup/A1

stuff like that or horseradish sauces is just fine on prime rib or other sorts of roast meat, but a proper steak should really be seasoned to the desired amount already in my book. Ill put the caveat, that while its not really my thing, a steak that comes from a restaurant with some sort of fancy sauce is fine of course if that's the way you ordered it off the menu. My mom is a big fan of ordering steaks with brandy or whiskey braises or sauces w/e you want to call them.
I actually like the taste of meat, and not just beef. I eat a lot of wild game and it all has a unique flavor and MOST people I know do everything possible to hide it. tsk tsk

man we had red deer roulades at new years at my relatives, literally best shit ive ever eaten
wild in general is super good

keens you can't get above $60 a head for a normal steak, I checked and lugers is closer to $55, 21 club's 2-person porterhouse is $105 each and that's like the most expensive I can think of lol

The most expensive I've seen is when we went to a place in Calgary once and the steak cost us each around $90-$100 CAD (just the cut, not including appetizers/sides/drinks). It was the only time in my life I've seen him order something that wasn't "well done" and it was only because the waiter said their chef won't do well done

tbh all the best steaks Ive had were ones I cooked myself. At thanksgiving this year I bought a 150$ ribeye strip from local butcher that was fantastic, cut 5 huge steaks off it and cooked the rest as a little prime rib. I also bought some 32oz ribeyes once at like 14.99lb so thats like 30$ a steak and I cooked them myself. They were incredible though.
i've bought 80$ piece of beef at restaurants (not in AK rofl) and it was good but I don't think the cut they started with was as good as my "best two" buying beef locally experiences. Obviously most ribeye strips I buy aren't anything special at all.

I have been to Keens. It was actually the restaurant I went to when I graduated college. I have not tried Cole's yet. How do you feel about sushi. There are some really good places in NYC. Really nice way to burn money, atleast for me.
