But I'm just going to chalk it up to chance. But its not a bad discussion to have, unless you get upset about people having discussions about diversity.

aren't they mostly into fighting, shooting, and sports?

Of course I'm not wrong. Different ethnic groups correlate to different socioeconomic positions (due primarily to historical reasons) which contribute to different cultural settings which include different pastimes.
Rich kids get computers. Poor kids go to arcades. Korean and Chinese kids play at PC cafes. Japanese kids go to their own arcades.
The only real factor is what all your friends do growing up.
This is basically the question: "Why are there more black people playing basketball than hockey?" Gee, I sure wonder. Could it be something to do with it being easier to put up hoops than rinks in the inner city?

something like that yeah.

Beyond that, its just a discussion that people are having and thats not to bad.
Edit: what Acritter said too, there are economic reasons why they don't play too. PC gaming is an expensive hobby and you need pretty solid internet to play as well, both which are not available everywhere. Consoles are cheaper.

Also a huge chunk of the known western dota players are from europe/CIS, and well, there just isn't quite the same kind of diversity here as there is in for example the US which also thins it down. There are far bigger chances of the US producing a black pro dota player than the europe/CIS regions.
I mean even just in denmark with recent surges of immigration 90~95% of the population is still natively danish(thus white).

PC gaming is an expensive hobby and you need pretty solid internet to play as well, both which are not available everywhere. Consoles are cheaper. DOTA2 is also a game where you really, really need friends to play with (not just against) in order to get good. That exaggerates the economic and cultural obstacles.
We can put it this way in a sort of list-of-requirements. Requirements to be a pro fightan player: 1. Skill, time, and dedication. 2. A really good local scene to play with.
Requirements to be a pro DOTA2 player: 1. Skill, time, and dedication. 2. Money to sink into computer/internet. 3. A group of friends who have 1 and 2.
When you consider how hard it is to even get one of these requirements (what percentile of wealth do you think you need to be in to have #2 for pro DOTA2?), you can see why even one more requirement can knock an entire race out of the competitive scene.

If I were in charge of drug legalization, meth is not the first thing I would send into the happy realm of legality.
Holy shit can that stuff go bad.

Any black people here who can be the Dota 2 chosen one?

It's funny that this topic came up. I read a study from a close professor friend of mine who went out to interview youth and young men about the current gaming culture. White people liked to play games cuz they are fun but asians played also games but games so it goes hand in hand. Asian youth are also very serious in their school work and use gaming as a way to relax but they are still games. Gaming is a good tool for relaxing but they can also be competitive, but both still count as games compared to sports or racing. People get drawn to fighting games cuz they can knock someone down in the game but still not get in trouble in real life so it's like saying to ur opponent that you owned him when u beat him in the game but he wont do anytyhing in real life unless he is psycho but then u call the cops hehe
My point is that we all play games because games are what they are but not always what u think so u gotta make it what u want it to be i think future games will make it easier for the youth to do that if future game makers broader their vision for their games i hope they manage to do that for the sake of future gaming!

actually i just looked into the gurl gaemers thread now and its still awful
Goddamn i love people talking about game and game design with just how the 'feel' about the situation as their guiding compass.
