And qualifiers are fine, but not ones with 20 games per team each. Want to qualify for 4 four events, that's 80 hours of work for you just to get paid.

Finding and staying at an employer who is willing to pay them 100k+ while requiring them to work no more than 40 hours a week. n_n Try working 20 hours just to be have the option to work more and get paid, maybe. If we look at StarLadder and another events, its not like the money is a sure thing or appears instantly.

Tournaments being shitty about paying out is a whole other issue. Especially since a big part of the money is directly being paid by the viewers these days, it shouldn't be that big of a problem. Apart from that, I believe what you are talking about is called attending university. Especially in the USA and England.

Especially since a big part of the money is directly being paid by the viewers these days, it shouldn't be that big of a problem. The point is that events are trying to get the largest number of matches out of the teams "add value" to their tickets(over 150 dota matches). They do this by making massive qualifiers, which are online and limit cost to the people running the event. The teams then have to deal with getting their players to play the +20, which the team does not get paid for. Its less about PPD bitching about working for EG, and more about PPD bitching events trying to milk the team for matches that won't pay out. The event runner keeps the majority of the profits from the ticket, while passing on the rest to only the top placing teams. Everyone else "works for free".
