Doom actually outranges her.

But that doesn't count as being melee for item interactions. IIRC Ursa was also ranged at some point so he could use some items.

Doom is the only hero with a higher melee range for some reason. And Aghs tiny of course if you count that.

his attack backswing animation isn't that high, plenty of heroes are worse than him. Plus backswings are all cancelable anyway.

it's just a characteristic of the hero... it doesn't have to make sense. Not in Dota. It's like trying to justify Oracle's 1.4 attack point.

Dooms model is huge, it made sense to make huge heroes have larger range so the visuals work better.

At one point heroes could have 100,125, 128 or 150(doom only I think) melee range. Then all got buffed up to 128 in a patch.

Most interesting was phantom lancer who had 100 range. Nice lancing there dude!
