The guy is full of shit. see that's what i thought and then i went to see a psychiatrist cause back in my freshman year i was trying to trick the guy into giving me a prescription for adderall. the guy knew what i was after and he gave it to me, but he also told me a less extreme version of that professor's story. he also added that most psychiatrists are inclined to diagnose and prescribe medication for adhd just off a simple series of questions. so from what i've read and from what i've personally experienced i think that nutty story holds some truth i dont think the condition is fake but i think it's overdiagnosed. kids/parents that are convinced they have adhd are externalizing the problem, and to me attempting to solve a lack of interest/focus with a narcotic seems rather silly. | ||

Whether or not medication is excessively prescribed is a different issue entirely, and I lean towards yes. Not because of some doctor/pharma conspiracy, mind, but because Americans have this fetish for easy, perfect solutions. Amphetamines ain't narcotics, though. | ||

well i googled it and the dictionary definition of narcotic is different from the medical/legal definition of narcotic | ||
