We have knytkalas not potlucks. Your dictionary would tell you they have the same meaning but knytkalas directly translated would be bundleparty while potluck translated would be gryttur and that doesnt even make sense.

i had a potluck once in my live when i was in australia for christmas day i was staying in a rather small hostel like 30 ppl and we all made some food from our home countries me and my friends made roast potatos and sauerkraut like the real germans we are
