Haven't had a whiteboard interview in a LONG time, but those have been pretty hit or miss for me. Just standard technical interviews lately, which are pretty rough as I almost always mess up some of the question or don't know stuff. Just seems like there's so much to know, and its hard to focus on any one thing for me (though I'm probably not putting as much time into it). Yea this seems like something eieio can help with. Seems like you might just be missing some fundamentals, which is common with people that skipped undergrad CS. Show nested quote + What's a good way people recommend practicing algorithms? Its definitely a weaker point for me, but is there a good book to learn from, or a website people prefer? For whiteboard practice, i've done stuff like hackerrank and leetcode - is this one of those services that its useful to actually spend money on? Leetcode premium is one of the few services in the software/tech world that I would ever recommend paying for considering you can generally find any other resource online for free. With that being said if you aren't targeting top tier companies that do leetcode/whiteboard interviews it might also be a bit overboard. As you said you aren't being asked to whiteboard that often, and if you are I doubt you're getting medium/hard level leetcode questions. I personally used it and most of the interviews I got here in Canada were far easier in comparison. The company I'm at asked me a variation of "two sum" which is literally the most answered leetcode easy on the entire site lol. If you haven't actually had to take a DS/Algo course for your Masters I'd recommend looking up some online OCW courses. Also look into getting a copy (actual copy or free PDF, up to you) of Cracking the Coding Interview. Easily the most recommended book for new grads. It goes over some of the basics and has a shit load of practice questions. If you don't mind math heavy/rigorous reading the CLRS Intro to Algorithms book is literally the bible for the subject. Show nested quote + Yeah, mental health hasn't been great; kind of been in a stressful / mentally taxing relationship and trying to work through it, but that and covid and unemployment (money-wise, i'm fine though) has had its mental toll for sure. Currently shopping for a new therapist as my old one wasn't getting the job done, though. Good luck ![]() Thanks for this! I've already started incorporating some of this stuff into my routines and prep and stuff - just need to keep learning and push myself on that patht. 1. RIght - that's what some of my dev friends say. I probably don't spend enough time on the websites as it is, but yeah, I understand that. 2. I'll probably order the book - i think i can get it for like 30-40 on ebay which isn't too bad, and hard copies work for me better than pdfs. 3+. Roger, i'll check your DM in a bit. Been a bit lazy and whatnot, but I'll get around to it.

Twitch chat is great when it’s light hearted spamming and conversations on small streams. However, the shit that gets typed on that platform is often terrible. It must be hard to moderate as a streamer when you’re focused on the game. Plus even deleting and blocking doesn’t make you unsee what just happened. Feels bad

Meanwhile, more than 90 minutes after the Italian Gianmarco Tamberi won a shared high jump gold medal, he was still celebrating in the empty Tokyo Stadium. After he had cleared 2.37m, along with the Qatari Mutaz Essa Barshim, the pair decided to share first place – something that is allowed in the World Athletics rules if tied athletes are happy not to have a jump-off. .“The judge said: ‘Do you know the rules for the jump-off?’” said Tamberi. “And then we just hugged each other.” Barshim explained his close friendship with Tamberi, and how they had helped each other to come back after injuries. “He is one of my best friends, not only on the track, but outside the track. We work together. This is a dream come true. It is the true spirit, the sportsman spirit, and we are here delivering this message.” The Italian said he relaxed by playing PlayStation with the 100m gold medallist Marcell Jacobs the night before they both won gold. Tamberi was able to join Jacobs to celebrate the sprinter’s gold just minutes after his own

Feels bad Yeah, I mean, i only get one or two viewers these days, so its not a problem for me typically, plus it was almost completely done via twich whispers, but still. For streamers of any notable size ( > 10 average viewers), its a significant problem. Its one of the reasons rtz doesn't stream anymore.

Speed is super boring to me but it's immensely impressive what the athletes manage to do. less than 6 seconds to get up that 15 meter wall. Holy moly. Some runs are masterpieces of technique. Bouldering of course is my favourite discipline here. Never have I seen so many red faces though. Up to 35 °C aren't the best of conditions for a friction based sport but I digress. The routes are set nicely and actually managed to spread out the field of climbers rather nicely. Props to the routesetters! Loved the bathang start with a crack thrown into the mix. Unfortunately that meant lots of skin lost due to the conditions, but as the German commentator said, they give everything they have for the olympics. Camera direction sucked major ass though. showing athletes chalking up, pondering their nect move on the matress instead of another athlete topping a hard problem is just atrocious work. But I guess that is expected when you're sending out up to 4 athletes at a time. Which is ok, I think, but they should at least know which angle to show... I hope that these points will improve during the finals. lead comes up just now.

Olympic pressure seems to be affecting lots of them, making uncharacteristic mistakes. totally open competition with underdogs perfoming great and an unforseen injury of the oldest athlete who won the speed competition before with an amazing time of like 5.5 seconds, climbing close to 5 metres per second on a slightly overhanging wall ![]()
