A lot of the U.S. troops that signed up for the most dangerous jobs didn't really know what they were getting in to, especially airmen and paratroopers. Thank God my grandpa's job was just to man anti-air turrets in Labrador for some reason lol It's hard to imagine a cultural mood in modern times that could cause so many men to sign up for war.
