not really a good way unless the enemy is retarded, you can stand around spamming q all day from 30 miles away to farm, but thats about it

Ok, this is getting annoying. I have played a few games with lich now, and literally NOONE ever farms. I present them with a perfectly zoned enemy in a lane close to our turret, and they just either leave and randomly run around the map, or push the lane hard to their turret. I am pretty sure that i could just win games with some sort of carry by simply staying in lane for 20 minutes, because literally noone on either team does that.

Pick anti mage then. Farm for 30 minutes and then declare THE FUN ENDS HERE as you enter your first fight.
I think AM is perfect for new players, blink away when scared and just farmfarmfarm. Nobody will stop him and he can just tear on through. Forcing new players into support role only is just going to show them how bad everybody else is.
Also, always carry a tp, sometimes 2.

Also, always carry a tp, sometimes 2. Problem is that with all the new hero releases AM has lost much of his power in pubs. When the beta really opened there were only Spectre and Void to compete with him, and those were/are too complicated for many players. And the ones who could reliably gank him were few. But now...it doesn't work as well. He still stomps against many pub lineups, it's just way harder than before.

He's babbies first carry for sure, but on the flip side if you don't get really good early game farm and last hitting and even more importantly a great mid-game farm, you'll be utter trash late game and your team will completely hate you for it. Plus every time you die, you are just that much further behind, and your team will hate you for it. I dont think new players should play carry because it's just too much of a responsibility. I don't like recommending ward bitch heroes though either, personally I think beefy initiators like ES & Tidehunter or pushers like Leshrac or Shadow Shaman.
I also think Veno, AA, Vengeful and the likes are great engaging support heroes too for new players that they can ward bitch, but still also have a really fun role to play where they can get actual perception of making a difference, which I think is important for newer players who definitely at times get lower e-esteem when they don't feel like they're doing enough for their team and get discouraged, especially with all the BM.
But hey, it's all opinions at the end, eh?

TP is your bestest best friend ever.

New people should be able to play what they want. Because, they play with other new people. So it doesn't matter. Even so, "I dont think new players should play carry because it's just too much of a responsibility" doesn't apply because at that level it's not important. Nobody wards at low levels either and such things as supports/carries exist only in name really, I don't think the "supports" will give farm to the carries at that level.

The guy asked which character he should start with and you are complaining about people giving their opinions on what heroes are better to start with? No matter the level, there are obviously characters that are easier to start with than others. If you want to start with Invoker, it's your choice.
New people are ussually bad at farming and carries are ussually bad characters to play while underleveled and underfarmed, so it's no surprise people don't recommend them for begginers. And then if you want to start playing carries, heroes like Skeleton King or Sven are good places to start, since they are simple stun and whack kind of heroes that can carry if the game goes well but still have stuns/auras/etc. that will at least help your team as well if you are not having a good game.
New people should play what they want, but noone is forbidding anyone of picking anything, they are just giving advice.

Of course they can play whatever they want.
But in terms of ease of actually learning the game and its mechanics and improving and becoming a better team player and the likes, it's definitely better not to go play Spectre or Invoker. I'm not saying I'd flame a new player for picking Invoker or that we should make arbitrary restrictions so that they can't play Invoker or that they should never pick Invoker -- but he's definitely, along with hard carries, not someone a new player who knows very little about the game should pick because it just won't turn out well.
It's just a progression of knowledge. That's why people say new players should just ward bitch early on, because it just lets them watch and learn without having too much responsibility or ability to fuck up. Now while I personally disagree with that, the sentiment is true. New players who don't even know the fundamental mechanics of the game, let alone how all the heroes work and how to fight them (which is kind of necessary for being the carry for a team), and more importantly without knowing the FLOW of the game should not be a carry.
That's what I think, personally, is the most important thing for a new player to learn. Is the flow of the game. When to farm, when to stay in lane, when to leave for a gank, when to ward and when not to, when to fight and when to run away, learning when to group up and when to split push or farm your jungle. When it's appropriate to Rosh or when not, or when it's a good time to push. These are very important concepts that can't be taught and only gathered through just playing a lot. And the best way to learn these is not by playing farm dependent heroes or heroes that drastically affect this "flow", per se.
As I said before. I personally think heroes like Tide, Vengeful, Venomancer, Earthshaker and AA are great heroes for new players. They are extremely engaging while still allowing massive room for fucking up and not knowing what you're doing. And when you start to get a feel for things, pushers like Leshrac or Shadow Shaman also are great heroes for learning the pushing dynamic.

Played tiny for the first time ever. Not sure why, sort of avoided him. He is one of the few heroes that I have yet to play. he is surprisingly easy to use and roflstomps people. Sadly, I kept running into koL and my mana went down the drain (let sigh). But it was fun nonetheless.
Oh and on a side ntoe, his ability to clear entire creep wave is so satisfying.

I hate winning games when you know you didn't win, the enemy team was just horrible.
It just feels so dirty.

And then i pick skeleton king, noone buys a courier, i am alone in my lane vs 2 ranged, and noone buys a single ward throughout the whole game. I think i will go back to lich, at least then after i drive the enemy out of my lane, and my carry leaves for no reason, i can still do useful stuff. Or farm that now completely empty lane.
I have played about 6 games of dota so far, and i already feel like i am playing with complete retards. That can not be normal.
But when i ask before the selection if someone wants to play carry and farm a lane, noone ever answers. Basically, i want a duo lane where both of the people in that lane are me.
Also, how does one deal with natures prophet? He can sprout trees around you with no cd at all, and when you ever catch him, he makes trees around himself, is invulnerable, and ports out.

Trees(and by extension Nature's Profit) are not indestructible, items like Quelling Blade and Tango can destroy them, as can some abilities like Midnight Pulse(Enigma) or Powershot(Windrunner). Also, if you have Bounty Hunter or Slardar on your team he can't hide inside of his trees because you keep vision. Characters with Blink or comparable abilities can follow inside the trees easily.
Edit: And there is a cooldown on his Sprout ability. Edit 2: http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Trees

templar nerf doesnt seem overboard at all.
gj on valve for getting this one right. TA still does monster damage and she is technically fixed, I think. unless they reverted the change in this little 13 meg patch.

Well, i play LoL too, and we have a qq thread too, but still people there seem less retarded. Is there some sort of starting phase where i only play with stupid people, until i get real people in this game, since it does not seem to have a levelling system like lol does. At the moment i am getting incredibly annoyed at my teammates, not because they feed or play bad, just because they simply don't do what they should do. I can't understand how my lane can be freefarm, literally free of enemies, for 3-5 minutes, and NOONE cares and farms it. Or the guy that when we are 3v5, but for some reason are stronger then them atm, INSIST on keeping on farming for 20 minutes until we have passed that powerpeak. He literally did NEVER come to the team. NEVER.

I played LoL too. Quite extensively for that matter, was playing back when it was still in beta. Honestly, the reason people there seem less retarded is because, frankly, the game is easier on retards. That's not to say it's made for retards, or that anyone who plays it is a retard, not at all! However, the game has a much larger safety net for idiots and bad players, and that's probably the shock you're dealing with right now in terms of how badly your team is performing.
And yes, you're going to get stupid people like that. You just need to persist bro, it sucks. There are even more people like that now that the beta is opening up to more people. Eventually they just phase out, and when the matchmaking gets a much more proper system in place you hopefully won't have to deal with many of them again too (same goes for me ^^) That's basically what's happening though I believe. The game sees you only have, like, 6(?) games in so far and it's putting you with other people who have like 6 games in so far.
Just gotta suck it up and keep going. The hardest games for me were my first 20 for sure.
