thanks for correcting me. tired in client and indeed it is not. apparently dota 2 wiki is wrong.

I dont remember KotLs wave being quite so ENORMOUS in Dota 1, but I stopped playing it when HoN came out. Nice to see the new Visage, faced a guy who did impressive things with the familiars.

I choose BS because he looked cool, went mid because everybody say that's where I should go, give up first blood, ended up 3-18-15 with Tranquil boots, stout shield, Ring of Aquila, Crystalys and Wraith Band.
surprisingly, not a single abuse. Just 1 guy telling me to 'dont get balsy' when Im getting low health.
the next couple of games however ...... People like you ruin other people s games. There is a dota 2 QQ thread for just people like you.Just watch some streams and play versus bots a bit.Go read a hero guide for your hero at playdota.com.Learn his item and skill build.Familiarize yourself with game THEN go solo queue.

Not too sure if I'd like him anything above a 3 role though as he doesn't really do that well with farm, but he's a really good roamer and better than lion in that respect.
I agree, he has a bit of the same role as Sand King, ES or Ogre Magi has. Melee support. He is the best pick if you plan to gank a lot, his third skill is insane at stopping counter ganks.

i just checked out singsing's stream and HOLY SHIT nyx assassin's portrait screams "BADASS"

Ummmm something very very strange is happening to me and my friend ever since the patch.
We've been at the same house the past week or so, and ever since patch every time we try to join a game we get stuck at loading in and the game simply never starts.
This has happened about 8 times out of the last 10 attempts to queue together.
We can join games alone no problem.
WTF is going on.
Try one more time, buddy gets in instantly but I get a Disconnect cause lots of reasons and server probably not available.
WTF is going on for reals.
try AGAIN, instantly get "Disconnected for server, Bad server request." Neither buddy or I get into the lobby, stuck on waiting screens/DCed.
This is getting stupid, we can't be the only people that this is happening to. And then I alt tab back into the game after the third edit to this stupid post, and I'm "in game", but nobody else is, there's no HuD, and it says I'm disconnected in the top bar.
I'm seriously getting confused.

I'm seriously getting confused. I had the same problem yesterday when me and my buddies were queuing up and the game didn't react to us pressing the accept button as the 'your game is ready' notification popped up. Eventually two of us got into the game but the rest were still unable to, the cause is probably just server instability in general, maybe there's more tension on them when searching as a group as opposed to solo queuing?

So, i just got a beta key, and have never played dota before, only lol. Which are some good heroes to start off with? I was thinking of some support heroes so i can get to understand the game in general better without completely losing the game instantly.
I played a botgame with crystal maiden, who appears to fit that role, only to instantly be told that she apparently sucks in the second game. Is that true, and in that case, which heroes would be better to choose? I can look up guides and everything on my own, i just need some help choosing a starting point between all those possible heroes.

Crystal Maiden, Vengeful Spirit, Venomancer, Tidehunter and perhaps Shadow Demon are good heroes to start out with. Check out guides for them at http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guides or some other site (there's this site where there are a lot of good featured guides, but I can't remember the name of it), and play a game vs bots with the hero before you use it in MM if you want to avoid getting flamed.
More heroes: Lina, Lion, Warlock and Lich also make for excellent beginner heroes. Lich in particular is very good beginner hero. Strong laning and great ultimate, and all of his spells are very easy to understand and use.

Used to be hailed as the greatest support but there are better ones.
For a new player-friendly support hero, Lich fits the ticket. Other ones to look at are Venomancer, Sven, Lion, and Witch Doctor.

Just curious on the opinion, but who do you think fits the pure support role better? IE if you had easy lane you planned on putting a hardcarry on (say AM or FV) with one in the jungle, who would you draft?
Edit: kind of a dumb question, especially considering CM generally does a healthy amount of roaming, but rather, who would you argue is a better support

Veno/Earthshaker are really good babysitters that are often really bad babysitters for new players to learn. New veno players often push the lane on accident instead of just harassing the enemy out of lane and new Earthshakers can't threaten the enemy or save their ally with their fissure well enough.

Strong laning and great ultimate, and all of his spells are very easy to understand and use. Strongly disagree with all the hero suggestions apart from lich :p. Supports like cm, lina and veno are among the most difficult heroes in dota imo. Warlock's ulti is a second unit to micro which is a clear no go for a new player. Lich is a good choice I agree. For complete beginners I would maybe recomend something like tide or sven, tanky melee supports with very easy to land stuns. Then moving on to more lasthit dependent but still fairly tanky heroes, without too many active skills, maybe leoric, troll (though he isnt in dota 2 yet), I would say razor but since his remake he isnt close to as newbie friendly as he once was. Maybe phantom assassin, she is melee and fairly squishy which is bad but it is very easy even for a fairly new player to get farm with dagger and it's hard _not_ to do some damage with her as long as you are not the one initiating. Once the basics of micro, map awareness and last hitting are down you can move on to gankers, roamers and the more micro intensive semi carries. (or you can just random every game from the get go which is honestly what i would recomend to get a feel for the game =p )

edit: also dotafire guides aren't very accurate, playdota usually has the best guides if ur new reading guides is good but don't take everything to heart, a lot of stuff is situational and/or inaccurate
