Saw this article posted on reddit. It's a rather nicely written personal experience piece on Dota2, and though reading stuff like this for fans of the game is little more than jerking off, it does bring back a lot of memories of learning DotA for myself for the first time back in the day. What primarily caught my attention though was this interesting take on what DotA is:
Dota 2 is fencing.
That's the skill, and the appeal. I finally see it. You're fighting back and forth down these lanes, looking for an opening in the other heroes' defense. The other guy's too close to your tower, or too far from his friend, his ultimate skill's on cooldown, his health is low. Fights in other games last seconds. Fights in Dota 2 are dramatic; entire minutes of feints and narrow escapes. Duels that can span forests, roads and rivers without coming to an end.

He has a global presence with his aura - healing everyone and making everyone more resistant to physical damage on every lane, so assuming everything else equal(I know that's impossible, but still), the lanes with Treant Protector backing them have the advantage. And his ulti is like a better Ravage as it goes through BKB, the lower radius not mattering that much in a pub.

Getting a beta key has forced me to upgrade my video card which is pretty low right now. I tried playing a few games though and I noticed that the camera is kinda bulky compared to Frozen Throne DotA. I often lose track of my hero if I try to scroll using my mouse and around the edges, it doesn't seem to move as instantly/fluidly as War3 DotA
Is this a video card thing or do I just have to tinker with my camera acceleration settings and stuff?

go to your steam library and right click Dota 2, then select properties. Click the "Set Launch Options...", and add in "-console" there. Now the console should appear when you open the game as well as being able to open it at will with the hotkey

Thanks again!

I don't know the reason Keait can't make it, but EG REALLY pisses me off. They say the reason they're not going is that it's not worth it for them. Well, why the fuck do you even accept the invitation in the first place?! The Star Series league is basically just the qualifiers for the LAN finals in Kiev, and they join anyway, knowing they won't make the it there. In my opinion, they should get punished somehow.
This is based on personal experience with them: I am glad they can't go, they are assholes and, while they are good, they do not IMO deserve a spot. They earned it, but with how they act in-game, it is completely intolerable. I was an admin for the 2 ItsGosu Monthly Madness qualifiers and KEITA was the least respectful of ALL the teams in both tourneys (4 qualifiers). It does suck seeing teams that earned their spot not being able to show up (EG and now KEITA) but karma eventually got them back <3.
Now that the personal rant is over... I hope the teams that do manage to make it and the teams that take their places make for an interesting and fun to watch tourney, I just hope Tobi doesn't cast it as I don't need a weekend of yelling in my ear :D.
Side note/question... Am I the only one who finds Na'Vi to not be as good as some of these upcoming teams? They won TI but that was before most pros had the game and that was a year ago pretty much. Those other teams have gotten much better and I haven't seen many results from Na'Vi since then.

You mean apart from the flawless win at TPL against the best Teams without dropping a series?

Does anybody know how i can change the language of ONLY dota2?

You skipped this part in my post "I haven't seen many results from Na'Vi since then.". I know they won, but aside from that, there really isn't a whole lot more. I realize teams go through rough patches and that is why they get knocked out of tournies and such, but I see other teams progressing faster than them in terms of skill. I honestly think if EG plays how they did against Complexity yesterday in the IGMM #2 then EG would be able to beat Na'Vi in a best of 3 or 5.
^I never said they were bad, I just mentioned they haven't put up the results that should coincide with all the fanboys I see. So many games I have run into people calling them the best team in dota2. I do not think there is a "best" team, only the current elite ones (Na'Vi IS included, along with mTw, mouz, EG, and a few others).

I don't even know why there'd be an external DLC feature for a game that already supports microtransactions internally anyway.

Keep in mind that they looked near flawless in Dreamhack as well until they ran into mtw in the finals (who were on a mission) I would say mtw maybe has caught up with them, but besides them (and chinese teams, of course), they are the best in the field still when playing in big tourneys/lans.
