In response to that, they teach you to drink in the army. The prepare you for the future in all ways. The Native American's would like to point out that all cultures and demographics are different when it comes to booze. Some deal with it better than others.

I'm fine with a very loosely enforced young age "limit" to if nothing else allow prosecution of negligent parents. Dumb parents will fuck up children regardless of an age-restriction on whatever it might be(Smoking, drinking) hell some parents can't even properly feed their kids. Putting an age restriction on drinking isn't going to fix that, prosecute the parents that fuck up/aren't fit to be parents. We only have a limit on buying it. I've always had a healthy relationship to alcohol because it was never something tempting or exotic, if i wanted to try it it really wasn't that difficult to do. I feel the same about sex really, i'll never understand countries where you're not allowed to have sex until you're 18. Considering greenland's current situation regarding alcohol and me being danish, i know that very well. But that's not due to some age restriction on alcohol.

Let kids drink at 16 or w/e, it allows them to learn to drink responsibly. Making kids wait till 21 to be "legal" just ends up in them making all the wrong associations with booze and basically learning to problem drink when they start drinking at 16-18 instead of to drink intelligently. idk about other countries but the amount of stupid, alcohol-influenced shit I saw/participated in my first year of uni was absolutely appalling. besides, if you want to drink at 16 you're going to find ways to do it, illegal or not. But doing it illegally teaches kids the wrong way to do it which is why at uni all they know is to capitalize on every chance to drink by drinking to excess and behaving poorly instead of "oh hey its alcohol let me enjoy that in an intelligent manner" because it's something they have been exposed to and taught about and know how to enjoy intelligently. the fact that you can't properly drink with ur kids at 16 to show them how to enjoy responsibly is ludicrous, people don't just innately know how to use an addictive drug intelligently. at 21 kids are wayyyyy too old to be "taught" things.

I feel the law is more often in place to remind us of the age you should stop doing dumb shit while inebriated, which imo is a much better alternative than actually allowing kids to be completely drunk out in public. trust me, I thought that law was fucking dumb too when I was a teenager as well, but after a certain age it makes some sense in a completely backwards way. just an opinion tho
