The SC2 and hearthstone communities version of "successful game" has a lot to do with getting LOL numbers on twitch, and they will accept no excuses. #1 or dead game. Until then, they will debate design and balance. Well this is because the playerbase aren't investors. You're not a successful developer just because you've sold a lot of copies in the eyes of the public.
Counter-Strike has supposedly sold more copies than any single Blizzard franchise and yet it is by no means seen as Valve's biggest 'success' by the public. In fact it's often seen as one of their bigger failures until just recently.
It's obviously unfair to call Blizzard a failure because the criticism is based on the fact that they make very good games. And because they do, people have very high expectations of what will happen to those games post-launch or in future versions, which is where Blizzard often falters.

I find it funny though in that hearthstone thread how they want less RNG mechanics. I mean sure, something like a 50% chance to draw a card 'seems' to make a big deal on deciding games. But every single time you draw a card you're sitting on much worse odds to get something useless/acceptable/fantastic. It just doesn't "seem" as game breaking, although I would personally think that all the other RNG in that game is negligible in the long run compared to just the fact that it's a card game.
Not that I care about RNG in competition. I used to play warhammer competitions and every single element of that game has some RNG, never bothered me, it's part of the fun.

RTZ is currently streaming mid Ember, building Bottle -> Phase -> Vanguard -> Battlefury. It...actually works out decently for him, though for the life of me I can't figure why (with the exception that RTZ just plays really well). Thoughts?

OnGamers banned entirely on Reddit.

because an ember that can stand next to things without dying gets to use that free radiance of damage he has instead of wasted points of sof

I also don't know if this was brought up before as it's a couple of days old but I just noticed it today.

Also ember's just really ridiculously high skill ceiling. How good the itemization is probably much less important than the simple mechanics and decision making.

This further confirms that reddit sucks and is a little fiefdom for those who run it. I wouldn't even know who to contact if I got banned or shadow banned. I never even see on gamers post, so I don't know what the issue could be.

A brief explanation of what happened. As I'm sure many of you know, we've been having a few problems with ongamers for the past few months. Their employees have been manipulating reddit behind the scenes for a while (which was the reason for their ban the first time around). This time, in an attempt to subvert our rules set forth when we unbanned their domain, ongamers employees have now taken to repeatedly PMing users with instructions on how to post their links, including exact titles, and then having employees vote on those links once submitted. This behavior is totally unacceptable, and that is why /u/slashered [1] and ongamers.com have been banned again.
Yeeah, I thought it was just their employees posting too many of their own links breaking the 9:1 ratio rule, but if reddit admins have evidence of 'behind the scenes' vote manipulation, that's a hole different deal.

Well they always said it was vote manipulation. But vote manipulation can be many things, like tweeting links to your reddit posts instead of to articles.

Reincarnation of YawnGamers incoming?

I bet it is a small subset of ongamers employees doing this stuff too. Sounds like a total slasher style move. At least reddit told people why they banned, unlike last time.
