I can't imagine fnatic would dick around with one of the most stable rosters in dota/hon and have something insignificant and retarded as basis for doing so

So has the situation changed since mid-june to the point where Fnatic released their statement? Who knows.

It obviously wouldn't look as pretty for them as their statement did, but I don't think this situation would be that damaging to Fnatic if they were honest. If they said that they don't think they can play with him and they disagree with Valve's decision, they would look like a professional org making a sound decision. Some people would be against it, some would be for it. Now everyone is against them. Like trying to cover up the truth against Valve is... fanatically stupid. Even though I'm still curious about what's happened the past 2 weeks that led to that post being made. Especially after Hanni said they would play with him. Whatever happened, the decision to make that post... I don't get it.

Also holy shit how stupid is fnatic leadership. They tried to sick a lynch mob on valve, knowing that valve had all of that ready to counter punch with? It also seems that fnatic leadership did this because they take a cut of the prize money, which the good organizations like liquid or eg do not. Fucking retarded and slimy on their part, hope this means reddit stops felating them.

I mean, I'd probably do the same thing in his shoes plus he's just a kid, but he's really scumbagging them. "Hi I ditched you for LANs on less than a weeks notice multiple times, plus I can't participate in your expensive bootcamp that you set up for us, so basically we can't practice well or anything and who knows if I'll be a mental wreck or a human being in Seattle, but I'm still making you play with me". He has the right, but its really fucking not fair to his team. Not that any of this is fair to him either but shit happens when you get ill. From fnatic the organizations perspective, they weren't firing the kid they just wanted to have a 5-man roster for more than 2 weeks before the 10-fucking-million-dollar tournament. Hell, they really can't be sure the kid won't be a basket case flying all the way to seattle. Thats really not too much to ask. More than a million bucks in prize money will be handed out this june, do you think it's fair to Fnatic the team and the organization to be hamstrung from pursuing that money because Era can't travel? The biggest issue is that their press release ignored Era's first email to valve. But to be fair, they don't care about that email as they secured era's agreement to let them play and valve said "the player controls who sits in that seat". The situation is just shit-balls-fuckign-awful for all involved.

I don't think they've ever done anything similar to this, as far as I know, Valve always remained quiet and didn't explain their decisions, let alone actually go public with e-mail conversations and stuff. Because I'd imagine they would normally just deal with the org, the org would then release another statement saying that it's been resolved.

I dont think anyone here is really a scumbag, just a bunch of people acting in what they believed to be their best interests fnatic offered to compensate era if they played without him, so its not like their complete dicks. and if era has had health problems lately then its natural that his team is worried about him going into the most important tourny of the year. I dont think era is a dick tho. mental health problems can be a bitch.

I'm saying releasing a statement, looking to cause a shitstorm (because what else would the statement do) to make them change their mind. And in that statement mentioning nothing about the fact that the reason Valve is against it is because Era said he could play. And that they apparently have no medical information saying he can't.I think its lame for fnatic to seek valves blessing for a replacement after era indicated that he wanted to play, but its not that dickish in the context of era being flaky lately. You even have people like SunTzu. Who is apparently an idiot, but still, someone clued into the scene. Tweet about how angry he was that Valve didn't think Mental Illness was serious because why wouldn't they give him the same treatment as Fear. Obviously a stupid thing to say, but that's the kind of sentiment you brew when you don't tell the truth. Blatant misrepresentation. ~ I don't think there's anything wrong with Fnatic wanting to play with another player. If they should be allowed to or if they handled that situation properly is another question, but I don't think that's 'dickish' at all.

Well the medical clearance that era provided to valve for starters. It almost looks like fnatic tried to put a forced institutionalization on him, but that has to be me being pissed at the rest of this and mis-interpreting in my anger right?

Valve has actually done things like this before. When they have a PR situation that requires transparency, they basically release everything they can. I remember there being an issue with SteamGuard scanning local files, or something. Gaben actually posted on Reddit with full explanation of everything that the software did with the system, just short of exact specifics about what would be a red flag.
