The release about the event states that there will be 11 invites, Four regional qualifiers and the runner ups will play for the last spot.

So what are the undebatable 10 invites?

11 invites is fine to me, 13 was ok but would be wrong now. 3 EU 3 China 1 SEA 1 Korean 1 American and 7 teams having to go through qualifier could be good too. In the end it does not really matter as the main contenders should all be there, no matter the system.

Of that, I'd say Fnatic and Empire are debatable. However, even if we accepted all that and came up with a clear SEA invite, it's not 11 teams.

Because at this point there is no team that has kept a roster as long as Fnatic and still been able to have decent results.
I don't even like Fnatic as a team, but given this as a factor, I think they should be a lock for an invite.

Not having a SEA or NA invite is basically a slap in the face to those regions. It's not possible to do without causing a shitstorm. Which is why I listed +2 because regardless of how undeserving you think the teams in those regions are, and regardless of how few invite slots you think Valve should have for TI, it is not possible for them to not invite at least one NA team and one SEA team.

Alliance, Na'Vi, C9, Fnatic, Empire, EG, Titan, DK, VG, IG seems like a solid 10 to me.
The 11th one will probably go to Newbee if they prove themselves in WPC.

Titan looked good against newbee but they always have problems late game/closing out games

It's actually questionable if Valve can have less than 4 Chinese invites without causing a shitstorm because there'd definitely be an enormous reaction to having less invites than last year (Chinese community would definitely take at least some offense to that). So if we consider Valve's hands tied on the need to have equal Chinese invites again at risk of snubbing the Chinese community, that's a full 11 invites.

I don't mind having teams from "lesser" regions in the competition. Actually, I think it's good, and that's why they should have a qualifier. If it's not clear who should be invited from the region (and the fact that even those arguing for invites can't put forward who should be invited) then it shouldn't be decided arbitrarily.
Regardless, you seem to agree with me that 11 is too many given that you've only offered 10 even with the unnamed SEA and NA team.
Edit: God, I'm too slow. Well if the issue is purely about obnoxious fans not feeling "snubbed" based on zero logic then. . .Yeah, I think that's a really shitty way to run the most prestigious competition in eSports (or second most, superiormobagaming, etc.). I can understand it but it's a fundamentally different idea about what TI is to the one I have.

I think Ive seen fnatic at couple lan finals after ti3 ?

as long as there's no Korean invite...
